Indeedy. As good a boxer as Tunney was, he is not outpointing Joe, no way is he stopping him, and he is lacking the durability of Ali.
Tunney by decision or possible late round stoppage. Gene would come to the fight thoroughly prepared as a result of studying Joe's relentless, but one-dimensional style.
Interesting, very interesting. You think any version of Tunney was better than FOTC Ali? How does he keep Frazier off of him?
Joe is just too relentless over 15 rounds, hardly anyone would be able to stay with him at his intensity.
This. Nobody out-lasts or out-wills Frazier. He had to be overpowered, something that Gene Tunney would find impossible. Frazier wide UD.
I don't think anyone could outbox Frazier. Nobody. He is just going to break you down. His footspeed is too much, his speed of pressure is too much. IMO, if you couldn't stop Frazier you couldn't beat him. I'll go for Frazier KO10 Tunney. That's prime-for-prime. This is a fascinating, fascinating fight if, say, you take Manilla Frazier. That one might get to the cards. The questions then become, how much heart does Tunney have/can Frazier tag him with his very best punch very late? That fight would be amazing. Frazier is in loads of amazing fights with boxer types if you take the old goat version.
