I like the Frazier pressure here, Tunney was tough and good movement and enough power to hurt you but not enough to take Frazier out of this fight...Frazier gets stronger as the fight goes on for a stoppage or UD rds 10-15 danger SMOKE zone for Gene
This is reasonable Frazier was a relentless pressure fighter who was able to keep up with Ali and any other stylist he could cut the ring down well....Frazier would walk him down once he got smokin and not let off until it was over
And which heavyweights was this proven against? Because Ali was amazingly disciplined against Liston, Frazier (III) and Foreman.
Boy howdy, if Greb's busy attack flustered and punished Tunney can you imagine what Frazier's smokin' attack would bring?
I firmly believe that i showed considerable restraint towards those siding with Gene. Christ on a bike, someone even suggested that Tunney may force a late stoppage.......Bollocks!
Stylistically this favours Frazier.Tunney was a great mover but Joe was quick into range.Tunney is significantly smaller than Ali has less reach and probably durability. I don't think Tunney has enough oomph in his right hand to keep Joe off him. I believe Frazier catches up with him late and either stops him or has the ref do so. I may be in the minority by saying this, but I think a prime Dempsey stops Tunney.
I don't entirely agree here , prime Ali beats prime Joe imo,and Tokyo Douglas might turn the trick too. I believe Tunney proved he had plenty of heart after Greb beat the **** out of him he immediately wanted a rematch.Heart didn't get Tunney the wins over Dempsey, "head" ,did.Having said this I take Frazier to stop Tunney late,if the Marine did manage to last the route, the next day he would wish he hadn't!
