Bump cuz I like this has the potential to be a great flame war, Eastern European heavyweight vs. 190 pound 20s heavyweight who drew the color line. When haven’t those two made for great threads?
Golota 6 4 240+ is just too big. You say Gene will blind him with speed and skill to compensate for enormous size difference? Think again Andrew was a top international amateur 111 wins only 10 losses and won a bronze medal in the Olympics. He moved well was very skilled and very strong. His temperament was his biggest problem as a pro when going got tough fighting the best in the division in his era. He d have no such problems with Gene. Too big too strong and little if any skill advantage for Tunney.
Andy seemed to fight slappy speedsters like Gene very effectively, even arguably beat Byrd past his prime and without a fight at the top level for 4 years. However, Gene had no quit in him at all, so if he’s still in there late I think Golota would get discouraged and find a way to choke late.
The 190 lb Tunney won’t be able to avoid getting hit totally and when he does the 50 pound weight pull will be felt mightily.
