It's a similar concept to selling raffle tickets. There is a price where nearly everyone buys and you end up making more money than if they were more expensive.
You only need to see the interest in No limit cards. Mid week there's a tonne of blokes asking about it, there's not much else on a Wednesday night. They will come into work the next day discussing the results but not many get to actually see the fights since it's locked behind a $60 pay wall. I'm certain $15-$20 would more than double or triple their buys. But I'm hardly a business analyst, so...
Sounds good, let’s see if it’s actually sustainable in the long term. I hope it works, but there’s a lot of forces at play, promoters and fighters might not agree if it impacts their pay. Hopefully he succeeds anyway.
It will work if he couples it with showing non ppv level fights on free TV. Droppong the price will help the mid-level guys with names a ton but the guys nobody want to see, they still won't see them even at a discount.
“I got plenty munny!” For sure dude but - this is good for the sport regardless if you find value in it. Which you will I pretty much order about 70-80% of the PPV cards in a year. I’d say that’s 15-20 PPVs a year @ $30 a pop? You’re talking about a $1,000 $avings for the year. That’s substantial. & I’ll gladly pay less - why pay more? This content is protected
He’s too late. Eddie Hearn already eliminated PPV. For just 8 dollars a month on DAZN, every week or two you get a fight that would be equivalent to an old school HBO Friday Night Fight. Once a month you get a fight that would normally be on PPV on other networks. For the one or two biggest fights of the year, old Eddie might ask you to kick in 10 bucks or something to help him make these super fights happen.
That's like saying Messi and Zidane aren't footballers. They're both all time greats. I bet all the arm chair critics like you don't support the fan favorite fighters who took on all the hard fights for pennies in their retirements. They know that and I doubt they care about your opinion.
There is also the long play here, where a lower ppv cost is more widely distributed, more eyes on the fights. More fans, more money down the road.
Neither Floyd nor Canelo have taken any hard fights in years. Canelo made one slip up. He didnt think Dmitry Bivol would be too much problem. They said he couldn't punch always went for decision wins. Wrong!! ROFL Dmitry handed the Ginger one his ass. Beat the Bejabbers out of him.as my old trainer would say. He's fought no one of consequence since. Bivol took his He'll NEVER fight Bivol again or Beterbiev or Benavidez neither Canelo or Floyd ever had the stones of a real champion. Both relied on Vegas judges, a state commission who looked the other way,& a good supplier of Peds for their success
A certain opposite promoter say disagree And would probably tell you his opinion is more valid than yours Btw mine is
