Alalshikh is planning a Riyadh Season event in March, which would take place outside of Saudi Arabia due to Ramadan. An IBF eliminator between heavyweights Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba will likely feature on the card, he said. Alalshikh is also working on a show in May that would be either a Queensberry vs. Matchroom "5 vs. 5" rematch or a United Kingdom vs. United States "6 vs. 6" themed card. The "6 vs. 6" card would see six British boxers from Matchroom and Queensberry pitted against six American boxers from Top Rank and Golden Boy.
The next few years in boxing will be some of the greatest years in boxing history. I hate the idea of boxing becoming a monopoly, especially with the Saudi's involved, but at least we have gotten our undisputed heavyweight and light-heavyweight champions - something i thought we would never see again.
I would have also said put a show in Japan too...but then realized we're likely going to get all the notable Japanese boxer involved fights regardless of Turki anyway lol
Ain't happening but if I'm gonna dream, what about a Japan vs Mexico lower weight banger lol? Inoue vs Espinoza @126 (assuming he wins the Robeisy rematch and stays at 126 for another year for money) Nakatani vs Nery? Picasso? @122 (after Inoue fight) Any of the Japanese beltholder vs Estrada @118 Teraji/Akui vs Ayala @112 Plus more among contenders.
So, in the next 4 months we will have 8 out of 11 top heavyweights in the world fighting each other. Thank you Mr. Turki!
I really enjoyed the last 5x5 Matchroom vs Queensbury card. Does Golden Boy have any Heavyweights? Need at least one heavyweight fight in a 5x5 or 6x6 card imho.
Honestly that sounds ****ing amazing Europe v USA and mexico absolute fireworks I'd even actually pay for once to watch it lol
