You should win by actually fighting, it’s boxing after all and if you somehow win because the rules say “if you score 1 point and then run away the rest of the round you win the round” it might be time to rewrite the rules.

By the sounds of it, runners will just not be invited back for another payday. Which a lot of people will agree with, but I'm not sure I like one person ha ing so much influence on the sport.

For example Parker was apparently frozen out after his Zhang performance, and I don't think anyone could say Parker was running there, just implementing a 12 round strategy to win, but he was still actively engaging and on the offensive.

Saying that, boxing has taken money from a lot of people over the years and I think the sport is too big and decentralized for someone like Turki to take it over. Sure he will influence it, but boxing will happily take his money and carry on business as usual.

The list of legends who'd have never made it if with those rules is long. It may include Muhammad Ali.

Given that these paydays are heavily integrated with the titles we can't really seperate this. You don't get to monopolize a sport then do the whole "this will only effect my events that I pay for".

Parker is a major sanctioning bodys interim champion and that was nominally a world title fight. I was not at all impressed with Parkers performance in that fight but "Freezing him out" because of that shouldn't be an option.

I hate running but at the end of the day its on the aggressor to win the rounds. If the runner is still winning the rounds then it is what it is.

I mean really, if a fighter is being overly negative, it gives his opponent an advantage.

I support giving performance bonuses but other than that I dont think strategies should be overly manipulated by promoters.

Make rings a certain size for each weight class to be fair for both movers and pressure fighters, and make rings expandable in between fights.

    Simple way to fix this

    Have a points league

KO or TKO - 3 points
    UD/SD - 2 points
    Draw - 1 point
    Loss - points

Whoever loses also loses their place in the rankings

Whoever is on a KO streak rapidly comes up the rankings especially if he is fighting 2 or 3 times a year.......

Nah, this is the entertainment business. Floyd had some dreadful fights because he flat out ran from his opponent. But he also had fights that were entertaining, even tho he took a defensive approach.

Haney had no reason to fight the way he did against Ramirez. And Garcia completely shelled up after getting knocked down.

As long as Turki isn't enforcing all of his fighters to be nothing but rock-em-sock-em robots then I'm fine with the idea that he's pressuring all of his fighters to fight with more effort to please the crowd. There's a difference between boxing smart to win (hit and don't get hit) and just spoiling a fight by fighting negative (don't get hit at all). A fighter can still be a mover, strategist, and defensive minded as long they're throwing punches with a steady workrate and not just moving around the ring or shelling up where the only intent is to not get hit at all.

Agreed. I like this. Fighters are paid to fight, to entertain the fans - not to run around the ring and bore them to death You want to do that ****, be prepared to pay the price

It seems Turki wants his own brand of boxing, he should get into the wrestling business
Boxing is to hit and not be hit. There ain't no running in boxing. If your opponent is out of reach, cut the ring its that simple
Nice, Turki has alot of money throwing at everybody and his aim is to control boxing, do not give him too much influence
If he's not happy, he should go into chess\boxing. No running there, just sitting on the canvas

These Saudi cards have been a breath of fresh air, the best thing to happen to the sport in ages, and they've been great and often wildly entertaining. They went to enormous effort and expense to put on that card in Time Square and it wasn't just meant to be a big card it was supposed to be a historic sporting event and one which they blessed the fighters who fought on it with the golden opportunity to do so and paid them handsomely to do so.

How were they repaid for it by said fighters, especially Haney and Ryan and to a lesser extent Teofimo?

I'll tell you how. I literally fell asleep at least twice during it and I never fall asleep watching boxing and I mean even when I'm badly sleep deprived which is often and have been going nonstop watching boxing from Saturday afternoon/evening till dawn on Sunday morning on little sleep which is basically every weekend for me

This Saturday and Sunday I watched fights on the Wardley vs Huni card over in the UK. The Sky Simpson vs Zucco card over here. Then the Mason vs Nakathila card in the US. The UFC card in between and after that. The Opetaia vs Squeo card. And then the Nakatani vs Nishida card after that.

The Time Square card was a disaster and it would've left an incredibly sour taste in Turki's mouth and I don't blame him one bit for never wanting to ever have to go through an experience like that again
