Turki and Riyadh Season say "No more runners"

No, I understand that sometimes you got to do what you got to do to win but if your whole game is to not fight, boxing might not be for you (Haney/Stevenson).

 

I don't mind him deciding what type of fighters he wants for Riyadh, after all it's Saudi money and Saudi fights, but we in the US still have PBC, TR and GBP that can put together fights that Americans want to see. There is still a fanbase for the Haneys and the Shakurs of boxing. That's why it is important for boxing fans to support their favorite fighters whether it be by attending live events or purchasing their PPV fights.

After the performance of Haney, Garcia, Scull and Canelo, all in the same weekend, I don't blame him.

Those cards were also supposed to (somehow) promote City of the Wolves.

Big question really is, what does he define as a runner. As we've seen earlier in the thread, we have some posters accusing Mayweather and Ali of running.

 

Turki literally wanted to put Haney against Teo on his card, so it definitely wasn't aimed at him. Remember, Garcia threw less punches than Haney against Romero, so maybe it was put forth against guys like him.

I agree. It sucks to have to watch runners but you you have to beat every style.

 

Ali engaged plenty. He wasn’t a runner. What Haney or Scull did, that’s running.

I don’t see something wrong with only wanting to pay money for fighters who make exciting fights. My easiest example is Agit Kabayel. You put that man in a ring with anyone other than a pure runner, you’re going to get a damn entertaining fight that you didn’t mind paying to watch. Why does he deserve fewer opportunities than guys who will spoil or run? I’d argue he deserves more opportunities than those guys.

how about Naya Inoue? There are interviews with him you can see about this. He’s specifically said he’s aggressive and goes for knockouts because that’s what the people who pay to see his fights are looking for.

just saying. I totally get it. And I like that it might give some exposure to fighters and divisions who don’t get enough of it. You could watch Scull run… or you could watch Nakatani destroy. I know who I’d rather watch.

 

I agree, I just saw posters mention Ali as a runner earlier in the thread. I'd just be a bit worried if Turki sees it the same way.

 

its his money, he can hire who he wants. let pbc hire the road runners, for those that like it sweet and safe.

The past year has been arguably the best year of boxing in the past 20 years. Folks like you legit reminds me its impossible to please everyone.

But it's called boxing, not Knockout. Not every fight can be Foreman v Lyle. Some action fights are terrible due to lack of skill sometimes. Don't watch them or root against then. True fans of any sport should be able to attend the very least appreciate every person/style.

 

Problem is, people are called runners depending on who they are or what they did years ago
