How is it pointless? Wilder was a protected HW champion till Fury
Along with that its still a toss up fight as AJ seems chinny and Wilder does not have the fundamentals. Would much prefer to see that than Wilder Fury

It’s every fighter with some leverage puts in a rematch clause if possible. It makes business sense to put an option sense.
    Why wouldn’t they?

So wilder and AJ were protected?
But both have been battered into retirement, and taken rematches with those people?
You would think with all their money they would get better protection

can call it Battle of the protected

Two glass jawed and terrified, mentally shot fighters, pissing themselves and running from one another. There's a possibility neither of them will land a single punch over the 12-round distance.:sisi1

It's funny cause it was Wilder declining offers all over the place. They signed the contract in 2023 tho.

It’s common practice in boxing and in life to cover your bases as much as possible, whilst trying to progress.

After Ruiz 1 he had no other option.
His easiest route to get a belt back was to rematch and his team was clever enough to have a clause.

I give him the benefit of the doubt for the Usyk rematch, though again what was the alternative? Wasn’t like he was massively disgraced after the first fight and he made good money in a rematch fight for his belt.

It’s clear as day he’s now being protected. Any up and coming heavyweight with a realistic chance of beating him is being dismissed as an opponent.

Don’t get me wrong it makes business sense and Joshua/Hearn aren’t the only ones doing it. I just think it takes the **** that fights like this could and should have been made years ago.

Like compare this to almost any other sport. Fans paying to watch contenders fight also rans and occasionally fighting someone on or above their level purely for financial reasons. Promoters have too much sway because everyone’s afraid of getting beat and losing the PPV money.

This applies to Fury’s career also.

Don’t understand how you can be a fan of the sport and not be frustrated by this.
Assume you’ll be shelling out 40 quid for the 3rd Joshua-Whyte rematch or something?

Or maybe Hearn will reanimate the corpse of Wilder and charge you for the pleasure.

    Absolute joke.
