Looks like a great way to potentially break your wrists. :good Throwing a solid punch with your wrist bent is asking for trouble.
I get what hes saying about being in the pocket and using short sharp shots but i dont get why he needs to bend his wrists to do that. Im keeping my wrists straight and strongly wrapped!.
lol Maybe he injured himself by punching incorrectly, who knows. Anyways, I might not agree with his advice on turning in the wrists but he seems like a great coach, and I enjoy the way he breaks things down.
he was trying to explain a very important point when fighting in the pocket. The way he was explaining it though my confuse people more than help them. I also like his movements.
thats what i thought hes just explained it really badly. though i still dont bend my wrists like that!! You can get alot of power on short punches by driving the punches with your feet and putting your body into them. Dont see why you need to bend your wrists?
Couldn't you accomplish the same pop by turning over your elbows instead of bending your wrists? I'd be willing to try out his advice, but I've messed up my wrists before. It took more than a month to heal and I wouldn't want to go through that again.
Make sure you're punching with your knuckles. Especially when in close, it's easy to land your punches on the flat part of your fingers when in a fist, or on the second set of knuckles. Bending your rist in makes it more likely to hit with the big knuckles.
The only time I've hurt my wrist punching a heavy bag was when I didn't know how to punch and I bent my wrist, it ****ing hurt. Bending your wrists when punching is stupid. You'll get the most power if you line up you first knuckle with your radius.
