The main event is essentially a battle to determine the current fourth or fifth-best super middleweight in Poland. Each combatant has a SD loss to Przemysław Jerzy "Smile" Gorgoń in the last couple of years. (Gorgoń carries a journeyman's 14-9-1 record but is widely considered better than suggested by that)

In the co-feature, Tomasz "The Joker" Nowicki takes a very minor step up from his previous biggest assignment (an easy shutout victory over Colombian contender of the mid-aughts Joel Julio). On his last visit to Poland, the Venezuelan-Mexican lost a wide unanimous decision to Przemysław Zysk, but El Niño can produce the odd upset - as over Fredrick Lawson three years ago.

Correction, co-main is actually Kamil "Szczurek (The Little Rat)" Łaszczyk vs. Ismail Issack "Mwanajeshi (The Soldier)" Galiatano in a featherweight ten-rounder not listed on the card's BoxRec page for some reason. They just showed a graphic onscreen with the full running order.

Six bouts remaining in the gala, with Nowicki vs. Ruiz billed third from top. Angelika "Kryształ" Krysztoforska vs. Eva Hrkotova concluded a little while ago, with the pretty Czech southpaw getting dominated and knocked out in the third round of a scheduled six.

Hrkotova, btw, drops to an 0-9 record. Surprisingly, this is her first time actually getting stopped despite apparently having very little idea how to intelligently defend herself - having previously picked up decision and DQ losses all over Europe. Scrupulous commissions may want to reconsider giving her a license going forward and she may want to look into making a living doing something safer, like modeling. :nusenuse:

Very weird ...the visiting Greek-Hungarian southpaw, who enters to Can't Be Touched by RJJ, is 45 years old and just made his pro debut last October. :dunno

Anyway, somebody's 0 has got to go and being a HW blitz it'll likely either way come by KO. :ggg

Wow, first power flurry by Sosiński absolutely decimated Pantazis II. Seemed like a quick nighty-night, but to his credit he got up and slugged it out with the younger and more firmly built Pole the rest of the way. For the most part it was a tit-for-tat slow motion exchange of power shots, with Sosiński scoring especially hard with uppercuts on the bottom of the chin. Then in the last ten seconds both amped up the intensity and Pantazis II managed to wobble Sosiński but was himself battered onto his knees by a vicious combo. The ref somehow gave the Greek another chance and he was pummeled in the corner until slumping with his face bloodied & broken just at the bell.

    KO1!

"Sosna", aged 32, improves to 7-1-1. Just his third stoppage scored having only fought at a low level - so despite the muscles and how godly destructive Pantazis II just made him look, he mustn't be packing much TNT.

Sosna has more wrinkles in his forehead than he does tattoos on his chest & neck.

...which is to say, absolutely riddled filthy with them, near total surface coverage. We're talking LeBron Jamesesque levels. :sisi1

In his post-victory interview he seems to be a little dissatisfied and self-critical (going by his tone and body language; I don't speak Polish). Good on him. Aside from decent finishing instincts when he got Pantazis hurt the last time, it was a performance with more to learn from & work on than praise.

Again we have advantages stacked for the Pole - as in the previous match, both younger (Ślusarczyk 24 and Kratochvíla 26) and more professional experience (8-1 versus 1-0-1).

edit: and once more we have a foreigner repelled and dealt their first taste of defeat via first round stoppage. In this case the Slovakian was KTFO by a counter jab after getting baited into a mid-ring exchange. Down once already before that, all in the span of about two minutes or even maybe 90 seconds.

This gala is nearly halfway through and we have only had two completed rounds of action - two-minute women's rounds, at that.

"Seb Slu" (goddamn is he in need of a nickname makeover :sisi1) looks decent, based on what very little can be gleaned from a squash match such as this. It sounded like the interviewer prompted him to comment on a rematch with countryman Paweł Czyżyk - the only man to beat him so far, via UD in September of 2020. This was actually Ślusarczyk's first outing in the year and a half since then.

    He sounded game for it.
