Welter grinding him down with continued success, but every now and then Szymański stages a miniature rally and sends him reeling with a desperate series of right hands and hooks. Welter is only ever slowed down for a moment though, and juggernauts in with a bevy of short range punches to body and head as Szymański gets herded into the corner turnbuckle over and over. Szymański now mouth breathing and clinching frequently. He goes to all fours, more so from accumulation and exhaustion than any one particular punch. Seventeen seconds left on the clock; he'll likely be saved by the bell. Yep.

    10-8 Welter

    58-55 Welter

I can no longer see Szymański winning without Welter gassing out badly.

Patryk simply lacks the pop to get - or, more importantly, keep - Karol's respect.

Szymański showing signs of quitty behavior... he turns his back and leans over the ropes as Welter is pummeling him with dagger thrusts in the gut and looping punches on either cheek. Ref jumps in and stops it moments later.

    TKO7!!

Karol Welter improves to now 10-1 (3) and Patryk Szymański picks up his fifth loss in seven consecutive bouts at 21-5.

Well, since beating Welter for the vacant Republic of Poland super middleweight title Gorgoń has two losses but neither was for the strap. Rematch would seem like the obvious next move for both; it was after all a split decision (and Welter dispensing with Szymański elevates their unsettled business to higher priority than a Gorgoń vs. Szymański II)

Łaszczyk looks like a 50-50 cross between Dominic Monaghan (Merry the Hobbit from LOTR) and, rather unfortunately, Charles Zelenoff.

    Round 1

Łaszczyk is jabbing high and falling in with rights on the body, a bit clumsily, getting his bearings, collapsing headlong into Galiatano's waist and then pushing himself off with both arms to reset. Galiatano stays aloof, spine held erect in a southpaw Philly shell. Galiatano tries catching Łaszczyk on the way in with cuffing right hooks and ends up pushing him down to his knees by the nape - ref correctly rules it not a KD. Galiatano with a combination on the guard. Lots of twitching and feinting both ways, just staring at each other for the last twenty seconds with nothing productive done.

    10-9 Łaszczyk, close

Galiatano appears a division or two bigger than Łaszczyk. Considerably taller and not much less broad backed. Skinnier neck, arms and legs though.

After another nip and tuck couple of minutes, with neither doing much clean or effective work, Łaszczyk blunders facefirst into a chopping Galiatano left hand while throwing some wide windmilling shots of his own, and loses his footing, glove brushing the canvas, correctly ruled a KD by the ref. Interesting turn of events.

    10-8 Galiatano

    19-18 Galiatano

Galiatano is extremelly overreactive to Łaszczyk's feints. Kind of balance issues while punching too, I would say he has power issues because of that. Nevertheless he KD'ed Łaszczyk , but I would say it was a punch while out of balance. Still a legit KD.

They're throwing full blast like they each want to end the other with one shot, but Łaszczyk has just ten kayos from 28 tries (35%) and Galiatano's rate of stoppage is an even more anemic 13%.

They're both also incredibly sloppy offensively, so I doubt they'd even get anything square on the button to test the theory of whether one could switch the other's lights off.

Oh yeah, total flash knockdown - but it still counts on Łaszczyk's record (and is, I believe, his first time tasting canvas since his rookie year, versus Javier Ramos in 2011) as a glaring embarrassment, especially considering Galiatano's less than formidable C.V.

Maybe that sting will make him more careful going forward - in this fight, and his career.

Hideous style clash here. Overall the matchmaker for this event, Wiktor Materan, has done a terrible job all the way up and down the card in terms of parity and enjoyability* - but, I'm willing to cut him a little slack in light of the fact that he is just barely a year on the job. :deal:

    * slight exception of the co-main event on both counts, but it was hardly Gatti vs. Ward or anything itself.
