Hello, I've been boxing for a year and a half, and it's my first sport I ever tried out and I love it. I'm going to keep doing boxing throughout my career and turn pro when I'm ready. Anyways I thought doing training log would be interesting to see how I improve.

    Age: 17
Goals: Become a amateur fighter and eventually turn to pro and become a champion
Background: I was a shy kid never had too much self-confidence in myself and was bully and teased when I was young. I came from a country where education is viewed only as a primary source of success. I never really had any dream except of dreams that were planted into my brain by my parents such as becoming a well paid businessman, graduate college and go into majors I don't even want to do. I found boxing by my brother who also boxed, but now quit because of college, but boxing was something special, for the first time ever it was something I wanted to keep doing even though I would bleed, sweat, and be in pain. From the moment I started boxing I knew it would be my career and one day I will become a champion.

    Monday
Started to watch my diet and also started doing more conditioning on my own. Today ran for 15 minutes straight with fast pace. Did leg calisthenics after that + shadowboxing for 15 minutes before all this workout. Today wasn't too intense of workout because I'm going to a different gym this Wednesday to go sparring. Pretty Excited for this sparring, if I do well again I may be able to impress my coaches and let me compete in the amateurs finally.

    Tuesday
Tomorrow on Wednesday I'm going to a different gym to go sparring. I was suppose to go spar last week, but I had nose injury from few weeks before due to sparring, so I'm hungry for sparring now. This is a different gym we are going this time, usually we went to gyms we've usually went to spar for, so I'm more curious of who I'm going to spar, but I've been training hard so I feel ready, just gotta keep my head moving so I don't injure my nose today.

Did some basic calisthenics and medicine ball exercises with cardio and shadowboxing to keep it light for tomorrow.

    Workouts
Did 3 minute, 4 round of jump rope, doing double jumps at the end of 30 second.
Did medicine ball workouts such as slams, tosses, and toss to the sky.
Did 15 minute of shadowboxing focusing on form, head movement, but mostly focusing on my left straight (southpaw) and body shots.
Then did 3 sets of 20 sit ups with 10 twists to finish the workout.

Light workout today, but I'll need energy for tomorrow's sparring. Can't wait. Only downside is it's finals week for school, but gonna focus on both.

    Wednesday
Went to spar at a different gym, a lot of our team did well shutting their lights outs in the gym. For me I was doing good with the first opponent and I made him quit after 1st round and almost knocked him out. But I used too much energy on the first opponent that I gassed out! 2nd round they put me in their with a fresh opponent, nothing too much I can't handle, but the stamina got to me and I couldn't do much. If i can spar that guy again when I'm fresh I'm sure I would give him a boxing lesson. But my nose got swollen again so I really need to focus my head movement or buy a face bar head gear.

    Thursday
My school finally ended! I might have little more free time, but I have to attend summer school and go to SAT academy because my parents are forcing me to. I rode a bike to the gym today for the first time and felt real good, gonna start biking to the gym as much as I can so I don't need rides from my parents.

    Workouts
In the gym today we mostly did conditioning in the beginning.
Side hops for 30 seconds then Mountain climbers or 30 seconds
Jumping lunges for 30 seconds then tuck jumps 10 reps
We then did distance jumping 8 reps 3 sets
For Abs we just did jack knives 10~12 reps 3 sets, then V-ups 30 reps, 3 sets
After we hit the bags mostly focusing on combinations then in between rounds we would do intervals for 15 seconds, we went 4 rounds on the bags.
After all that we did some sparring drills, focusing on counter punching, what to do when a opponent is rushing at you. Learned some real valuable stuff today. Can't wait to go to the gym tomorrow.

    Friday
First day without no school, but summer school and SAT academy starting next week so my schedule will be still full, but I'll still be able to go more to boxing gym. And also today in a restaurant our family got into a big argument because of my big brother. Sometimes I wonder if I'm boxing because I want to show people that I'm worth something. But today argument got me more motivated to box.

    Workouts
Went to the boxing gym today and did some sparring drills with my coach for 20 minutes (rounds). We focused mostly on keeping distance and countering. And what to do in situations when someone backs up or someone comes forward with punches. Good learning day.
Did lots of upper body calisthenics today.
4 sets of push ups 15~20 reps
4 sets of deltoid raises with medicine ball
4 sets of hide and seek with medicine ball
4 sets of back workout/rows with suspensions
4 sets of back deltoids with suspensions
4 sets of pull ups with suspensions
4 sets of knee ups while hanging
then did 4 rounds of jump ropes with doubles at the last 30 second

It was good workout today and I learned a lot. I even learned some life lessons even though I'm still young, but those difficulties I faced today made me more motivated to become a champion.

    Saturday
Woke up at 7a.m today to ride bike with my friends. Didn't really have any goals for biking, but we rode our bike a lot probably total time of 3 hours and we also played basketball for 30 minutes then just played some freeze tag for fun of it.

    Workouts
Biked to the gym again and today was just gonna be light work since I did lots of conditioning from the bike riding.
Shadowboxing focusing on speed and form 3 minute rounds. Did 5 rounds
Hit the heavy bag focusing mostly on countering and head movement 3 rounds
Did 4 rounds of sparring drills, one person was pressuring and cutting off the ring then throwing combos when someone is on the rope, other person would try to stay in middle of the ring or try to get off the rope as quick as possible and could only throw jabs. Took turns and did 4 rounds total.
That was pretty much it and just watched some fight tape at the gym then biked back home. Good day today.

    Sunday
Today was suppose to be rest day, but decided to be active with friends, so went on a bike ride for 3 hours with friends around the city. Played some basketball around the park for 30 minutes, then another hour back of biking. Was fun. Can't wait to train tomorrow at the gym.

    Monday
1st day of summer school and SAT academy, pretty much did school for 11 hours today starting from 7:30 a.m to 6:30 p.m. I was pretty tired from all the studying, but I still needed to put work in the gym so begged my mom to give me ride to the gym today. Also this Wednesday is another sparring at the gym I sparred at last week, so it's revenge time.

    Workouts
Basically did 30 minutes of shadowboxing focusing on speed, technique, counter punching, and head movement and footwork. Then did 15 minutes of slip bag to work even more on my head movement. Then did 15 minutes of jump rope just practicing some tricks and footwork with it. Not much done today, but I still got in some work and taking it little lighter for the Wednesday sparring.

    Light shadowboxing for 10 minutes
Finished with 3 sets of leg raises 15~20 reps.

    Wednesday
Went to spar at a different gym today, didn't feel nervous at all, but I was little tired from all the school work.

    Sparring
My head movement was better this time and didn't get a swollen nose and occasionally got in some good counter punches. Only bad things I did was not letting my hands go when the other guy was close to the corner or on the ropes. I was going little slower pace so I could conserve my energy. Good thing was I went 4 rounds of sparring today which is great for me because 3 rounds gets me tired. Overall, today I learned I need to just let my hands go more sometimes and throw punches inside when someone else is throwing. But I'm satisfied with today's performance.

    Thursday
Another long day of school went to gym and did some good technical learning today.

    Workouts
First did 4 rounds of shadow boxing, 3 minute a round, focusing mostly on my combination and speed this time.
Did mitts with my coach just around 10 minutes straight, focusing on punching and head movements at same time.
Then sparred with a guy in my gym, who is not too experienced yet, but is learning fast. Went 3 rounds with him, was good sparring session, I was able to dodge his 5 punch combo miraculously, but there were times when he landed good shots, and I mostly focused on my foot to get right angles to punch. Good learning day today.

Another long day of school plus SAT academy. It tires me out, but my will to box still burns inside of me.

    Workouts
Just warmed up with speed bag for 6 minutes
Hit double end bag for 10 minutes
Did mitts with coach for 20 minutes focusing again on head movement and punching.
Did another double end bag for 10 min
Finished off with 10 minutes of speed bag. Mostly light work besides the mitts which got me tired, but good learning day again.

    Saturday
Forgot to post this yesterday because had some crazy night with friends which didn't involve drugs or girls, but crazy night. Anyways, Saturday was extremely hot, went to the gym at 12 and it was burning up.

    Workouts
Shadowbox for 15 minutes in the ring, focusing on the head movement and punching drills that me and coach did on the mitts.
Sparred with a guy that is not too experienced, but is crazy fast, but we just did drills. One person can only throw jab and move and any other defensive mechanism, while other person can do everything. Took turns then we did lead cross only and doing the same thing. Did 4 rounds.
Hit the bag for 10 minutes then just called it a day.
