Well -- I'm not as confident as the thread title suggests, but I honestly believe my favorite journeyman, Grady Brewer, has a very good chance of sending yet another undefeated prospect back to the proverbial drawing board. If Grady wins, that will be the 6th time he beat an undefeated opponent. If Lara wins, he's on the fast track to a world title shot.
Me too -- I'll be surprised if Grady does less against Lara than he did against the last two undefeated prospects he left lying in a heap:yep
boo radley doesn't like anyone from 154 - 160 until pavlik beats them... then he will fully support them
I'll be impressed if he does. It's actually a very interesting match-up. Grady has trouble with punchers, but Lara is not a big puncher. Grady is really strong, and likes to impose his physical strength on his opponents, but Lara is a good sized guy at 154. The big question in my mind is whether or not Lara can deal with a guy who can, and will, spoil, fiddle, and frustrate round after round after round. If he can't deal with that, Brewer will catch him repeating mistakes, and knock him out. Brewer holds wins over Forbes, Bundrage, Thompson, Martin, and got jobbed against Sechew Powell. As a pro Lara has 9 fights against low level no-hopers. Four or five rounds into this Lara's lack of professional experience could show up big time against a guy as cagey as Brewer. If Lara wins this, he is probably only 3-4 fights from a title shot.
It will be a hell of a fight. I just wish that one of the three fights on friday would be on saturday. We've got cards on FSN, ESPN, and Showtime on Friday Night. DVR is going to be working on overdrive on friday.
Luciano Perez got knocked out by Gomez, Odom, and Soto-Karass. Lara never came close to stopping him. Lara has a lot going for him, but he is not a puncher.
