Ya -- It should be a good fight. Some of these posts made me laugh out loud. It's pretty clear that most of these guys no nothing about Brewer beyond his record on Box Rec. Grady Brewer can ****ing fight, and as a pro Lara hasn't faced anything close to this level. If Lara just blows Brewer out, it would speak volumes about how good he is. Right now I'm a long way from convinced that Lara is the real deal. In my opinion Grady is the ultimate gate keeper. If Lara is not for real, Brewer will make that clear. If Lara is as good as his amatuer accomplishments suggest he might be, he'll handle Brewer with ease. If he does that, they can fast track him to a title shot.
That's a kill shot if I've ever seen one Technically though that's the way it normally goes when it comes to being a fan. He at least knows the rules of fan worship unlike most people who bash their favorite fighters opposition before AND after he beats them.
That's my whole point. I'm not really excited about Lara at this point. However, if he can stop Brewer, or pitch something close to a shut out, I'll say he's "as good as advertised." As far as I'm concerned this is Lara's coming out party. Most of these louts on ESB probably don't even realize that the last two undefeated prospects B.B. faced had a combined record of 33-0 with 25 KO's. Both had more fights against better fighters than Lara has faced as a pro. Grady stopped both inside 3 rounds. Lara's management has him in a high risk/low reward situation with this fight. It's a gutsy move, but it may also prove to be a stupid move.
I don't see a shut out or a KO but I do see a decisive win in a somewhat boring fight. Lara will not lose his composure and will stick to outboxing and outmanuevering Brewer over the course of the fight.
Lara is was to smart defensively, has a good punch, is faster and way younger that Brewer, this fight will be one-sided.
Exactly:deal Lara fought a 10 rounder in his 9th pro fight. Now he is taking on Grady Brewer in another 10 rounder in his 10th pro fight. They are moving this kid along really fast. If they are moving him too fast, Brewer will let them know about it:yep
I'll echo Antuwan's sentiments. Brewer could spoil and make Lara look not that great, but it won't be any closer than Danny Jacobs-Ishe Smith. I've seen plenty of Brewer and I've seen every fight of Lara's, and Lara's a few classes above Brewer both in terms of skill and talent. If lara loses, it's because he doesn't have enough resolve quite yet to go a hard 10.
