Anyone have any recent footage on Brewer? At his best he would've given Lara all kinds of hell and likely would have decisioned him wide... but I don't know how sharp he looks these days.
I favor Lara, but not by that great of odds. Lara has the obvious youth, power, speed, athleticism. But Brewer is a sort of poor mans Glen Johnson. He can do it all more or less. If Brewer wins, it will be by simply fighting smarter than Lara and capitalizing on mistakes. Countering him, fighting dirty, making him uncomfortable, finding holes in his defense. He has to make Lara fight his fight
His fight against K-9 Bundrage is on youtube my good sir. I warn you though, it's not what one would consider aesthetically pleasing.
Interesting question. Let's take a look at the Rec to see how accurate that is. He beat Marquez Reed who was 7-0-1 at the time. Lost to 9-0-1 Jesse Gonzalez Beat 6-0-2 Pedro Alvarez Lost to 8-0 Kelly Pavlik Lost to 9-0 Jermain Taylor Beat 16-0 Miguel Martin Beat 15-0 AT1 Anthony Thompson Beat 18-0 Albert Onolunose So basically he's 5-3 against undefeated fighters. That's pretty good in my estimation. I also think it's interesting that the prospects he beats all have flamed out after their original loss. In summation, if he loses to Lara there's a good chance Lara is going to go on to do outstanding things ala Taylor and Pavlik. If he beats him? Might as well sell the farm on the guy;
Before even looking at the username under the thread title, I was laughing from the gut and shaking my head saying "oh, boo". Well, while nobody is as big a Grady fan as boo, least of all me, it would be nice for a faded ex-champ to get a win over a prospect, as the karma's due for a momentum shift. Especially in light of the Ouma-Martirosyan robbery. As it is, I expect Lara to beat Brewer (and Bundrage to beat the current version of Spinks, unfortunately). Here's hoping I'm wrong. :good
:good thanks for the info. Never seen much of grady's fights but it seems he is indeed a live underdog. From what i've seen of Lara i hope he wins and continues on to stardom much like Pavlik and Taylor.
Calm down son! I intentionally used a troll thread title to draw attention to the fight. It deserves attention. Even though I'm not quite sold on Lara, he is in fact one of the best prospects in the sport. Brewer is a good fighter who seperates the men from the boys over and over again. Big Bone asked a couple questions on another thread that I think are pertinent. Is it to soon for Lara? Is it to late for Brewer? We'll get the answers in less than 24 hours!
What, is it too tight? :huh I'm confused why he needs to loosen anything? Is "zero" another word for belt? Is he gaining weight??
