Carmona taken from the ring on a stretcher and is in serious condition in a hospital after getting stopped by Jorge Arce. Daniel MacKinnon under went brain surgery after his TKO loss to Robert Berridge in New Zealand on the David Tua undercard. Hope these fighters pull through ok. Two weeks ago Mago, then two weeks before that Frankie Leal.

I hope that this trend does not continue, but I am afraid it might with Pacquiao-Rios.

Pacquiao coming off a devastating KO loss and Rios taking punishment for fun, someone is gonna get hurt me thinks.

Gotta hope for the best, this is a very brutal sport.

More strict monitoring is needed, based on fighters styles. Defenceless face first sluggers who are too brave for their own good need to be protected from themselves.
problems are foreseeable in a lot of cases.....Magomed, Margarito...."war of attrition" types need watching. Leo SC maybe??? I wouldn't be shocked if he has problems in future....

MacKinnon is apparently awake and improving, so that's something, at least.

Obviously, hoping that both fighters make/continue to make a full recovery.

Always hate to hear about boxers getting seriously injured. Boxing is a dangerous sport.
I was disgusted to hear the Mago was supposedly examined after the fight & told he was OK. Then he collapsed & they had to get a taxi to take him to an emergeancy room where he had to wait to be properly diagnosed.. MSG , the promoters & Mago's corner all must bear some blame.
Reminds me of a guy in the gym fought in Oklahoma few years back the doc that did the exams was a podiatrist the other guy was a VET!!!!!!!

This just shows you how much power Jorge Arce has.

Makes you think if we are seeing the effects of boxers on PED's. There has to be some fallout whether it's immediate or 20 or 30 years down the road.

It's a sad but real part of boxing I'm afraid. If rules are made to lessen the brutal nature of the sport, say things like full headgears for pro boxing and 20oz gloves, it would simply be modern fencing without the foils. And I guess 9 out of 10 current boxing fans would shift to another spectator sport in a heartbeat.

Part of boxing's allure is the hurt factor. It's not very civilized but it's the truth.

It's still sad when things like this happen though. Hope those guys recover soon.
