cracks me up when people try to say naz was past his prime based on earlier performances against bums...
I've never really looked into it, but it is quality. Would you still say he would have beaten most other Bantamweights that day? (Jofre)
Against the very elite at the weight, it's hard to say. I'd probably favour a prime Olivares and a prime Zarate but maybe not too many others. Though a lot of the best bantams would at least be competitive with that Jofre I feel. As an aside, I think Jofre was a little better prepared in the second Harada fight and performed somewhat better. That Jofre would be harder to beat than the Jofre of the first Harada fight.
Heavyweight Clay-Liston Light Heavyweight Moore-Charles Light Middleweight Hearns-Benitez Welterweight Leonard-Hearns/Robinson-Gavilan Super Bantamweight Morales-Barrera Some of these might be debateable but its the best I can do for now.
This is mostly true, Naz was much better at 21, he was all those things you said BUT he did train like a demon for Barrera, he got in great shape, its just that Barrera was at his absolute peak then & as said above, despite Naz being ready condition wise, his reflexes were no longer the same, he was slower & relied too much, far too much on his punch power. Thats the way I view it.... I dont like Barrera but its far too harsh to say that Hamed never trained properly for him, its actually quite insulting to both MAB & Naz himself IMO but to each their own I guess.
