I hope he rematches Catterall at a catchweight next year. That’s the fight to make. Hopefully Top Rank are willing to work with Matchroom to make it happen. I also suspect DAZN won’t put it on PPV unlike Sky who put it on PPV when the rematch was announced before it got cancelled.
2 fights at 147 then a title shot when the belts are all vacated, Top Rank have already mapped it out for him.
Catterall makes a Glass Eye weep and hopefully Taylor bites the bullet and moves up weight permanently. I fear that this Scottish Boxing Legend, unlike Fury he won all 4 belts, has lost his hunger having achieved everything he dreamed of. Certainly a future Hall of Famer regardless of whatever happens in the future.
I can’t sit through another 12 rounds of Catterall. Taylor could retire today and go down as a British boxing great. Hopefully a go at 147 gives him some new hunger and motivation. Definitely think he can become a 2 weight champion. I’m not sold on his trainer yet. Ideally he’d have stayed with McGuigan but I think Davison may have been treated a tad harsh too. Taylor said Davison tried changing his style but he was brilliant against Ramirez with him. Put far too much weight on before Catterall and turned up to Davison for camp about 3 stone overweight, that’s not Davison’s fault.
Hope he’s matched well at welter and not put in with defensive backfoot types straight away.needs one or two confidence builders then see where he’s at.
I really hope not. Taylor doesn't care about the rematch like Catterall does, it'll be another terrible fight due to the styles and unless Catterall has another very convincing win this time, we'll still never hear the end of the original robbery. Move on. Taylor should fight for whatever money he can get in the US as the UK crowd has never really taken to him.
Barry McGuigan matched him impeccably but he could have done with being promoted by Hearn or Warren his whole career. His ‘coming out party’ was the Catterall fight so all the casuals think he’s crap. I’ve got a bloke at work saying ‘I’ve seen that Taylor twice now (Catterall and Lopez), he’s fooking crap’
It's bad how the McGuigan association ended as the combination of matchmaking and training seemed to suit Taylor really well. Assume his time with Davison was entirely up to MTK. That's a shame. Most of the folk I would talk to about boxing have watched every Taylor fight since day one, they just think he's got old quick.
