No. I didn't think he threw his head as a physical blow enough for that. He definitely lead with it which caused a clash of heads, but that's in some way kessler's fault for not counterin accordingly.

He was beating the guy without the clashes of heads anyway. He could have outboxed him from the outside like he did in the early rounds for the whole fight.

He rocked Kessler before the headbutt and had him cut (slightly, if i remember) and the first headbutt was not intentional and he continued to dominate.

He would not have been DQed and he beat the crap outta Kessler and Kessler couldn't adjust he did nothing right. It was a great win and performace by Ward.

With the Mosley-Forrest 1 fight, I don't think Forrest would've scored a kd had the headbutt not happened but that doesn't change the fact that Forrest was still 1 round up on Shane before the headbutt in rd 2. Forrest had his number and still won the rematch though by a closer margin.

Now for Ward, same scenario in a way. Ward would've beat Kessler headbutts or not I don't know why some people cry about it like it would've made a different winner. Ward leads in with his head which is kind of Kessler's fault that he didn't look for the uppercut. Ward TKO 11 Kessler. Kessler mentioned headbutts but he didn't cry about it as much as some people on here do.

Yeah, I don't think the outcome of Mosley/Forrest would have been much different, though I can't see how Mosley would have been knocked down without the headbutt. That's the only reason I mentioned that fight, to show how damaging headbutts are, though I think Forrest always had Mosley's number.

Froch just said that Ward would have been DQed in Hernig and it was the reason he won. I think he's probably right.

    1. No. Accidental headbutts happen. The ref's should be able to spot an accidental HB from one sent intentionally. The realkity is, the way some guys fight, this will happen. Even if often, and if accidental, take a point off. Accidental HB's should not result in a DQ.

    2. Nope. Ward just beat the crap outta him. DOn't see the HB's the reason he looked so good.

But you would have to admit some of those looked on purpose? I think there were an overall of 9 headbutts and I thought about 3 or 4 were intentional. Even if they all weren't, after the first 3 or so, isn't it his job to stop doing that and avoid the head clashes? Shouldn't the referee have told him?

What would you say about fights like Holt/Torres then, mate? There are lots of fights were headbutts have had a massive effect. Guys like Tyson, for example, mentioned the effect of headbutts and Kessler took them over and over again. Even if the headbutts themselves didn't cause an issue, which I really doubt, there is no question that cuts that serious effect a fighter.

I reckon he headbutts that much because he's frustrated about his feather-fistedness. He desperately wants to stop a decent fighter.:deal

3 or 4 were intentional. OK, that's an interesting claim. Lets get more specific.

The fight is available on video. Can you find the headbutt you believe is intentional? Which round did it occur in and at what time in the round?

A person with your boxing expertise and internet savvy ought to be able to identify the deliberate head-butts quite easily. Help us out so that we can take a look for ourselves.

If you can't do the above, then we have to wonder how serious, how objective, and how fair-minded you really are.

    I'll rewatch the fight tomorrow.

Even if all were unintentional, at some point Ward should have been warned and told to watch out for them.

Ward, won that fight hands down. He beat M. Kessler from pillar to post. I tell you Kessler fans are sore losers.
