Rocky, I beg to differ ! Galento was not a dirty fighter. He claimed he took
    two showers a day !

How you can be so utterly certain of that is beyond me? Marciano only went down twice in his career from much cleverer faster sneakier and more pinpoint punchers - Louis went down against Two Ton because he was completely off balance - he was completely unhurt just embarrassed that he'd got knocked over by the fatso - Rocky would be too quick off the mark for the Tony I watched against Louis at least and Tony never knew when he was beat by the looks of it so it could get a bit gory

  3. joe louis was faster than marciano my a mile, taller with longer reach, with better skill and better defence, if galento could catch louis, he would catch rocky for sure.and galento was harder puncher than walcott, jersey was better fighter but galento was the harder puncher and it is a fact, galento was a fat, but he weighed 230 pounds, and he had power an strength. It is about styles.... They would exchange blows, marciano would win the fight but earlier he would be in the floor.

The main reason Walcott was able to floor Rocky was because he caught him with his hardest left hook at the perfect time. Galento did not have this perfect timing, he would go out there whip his hardest punches and turn it into a street fight, which would only work to Marciano's advantage.

True, but Galento's power was sick.

  6. still i think that galento did hit harder than walcott and he weighed 230 pounds in 5´11, he had the power tu put rocky in the floor, rocky was slow like the hell. And he took every shot with the face. I have no motive to think that he would avoid the blows from galento.

Yes it was. I just don't think he'd be able to land conistently enough to drop Rocky.

Galento probably did have a harder left hook than Walcott. Rocky's defense wasn't as bad as it appears at first glance. He actually slipped and blocked a lot more punches than can be easily noticed. He was no defensive master, but you still had to work a bit to hit him with many punches that could do a lot of damage.

For all his esteemed power, Galento failed to deck Max Baer..was this because of Baer's extraordinary defensive capabilities or the fact that Baer had an iron chin? Don't tell me that Tony suddenly lost his ko power in the Baer fight.

  9. please... Are you kidding ?
This video did show that he was a professional boxer and he knew to use the guard compared with you and i. His defence was very bad.simply this video shows his best moments.... He was very slow and he weighed just 185 pounds!! He did end every fight with the face destroyed.

Correct, this is something continously overlooked when assessing Marciano. I think some people think Rocky Marciano had a defence like Rocky Balboa:D

???:huh If his defence worked then it was a good defence. PERIOD

It doesn't matter how smooth and slick he looked while or how short he was or how small his reach was or whether he was 185 pounds  or 250 pounds - IF HIS DEFENCE WORKED THEN HE HAD A GOOD DEFENCE - and his defence worked - even Sugar Ray Robinson lauded him on that Robby said that "Marciano was a guy you really had to look for." Meaning he was difficult tag - difficult to find - I challenge you Combat - you watch every filmed fight of Marciano's and come back and tell me how many instances you come across when an opponent manages to catch Marciano with more than 2 consecutive clean hurtful punches that shake him - I guarantee you won't find any because he hardly ever got nailed clean with big shots again and again - he either leaned away and to the side or was difficult to pin down in that crouch - he'd be looking out for shots - or he'd be moving away quick regroup and come back from a more awkward angle - he break up your punching rythm

PS if Rocky Marciano was very slow how come he was quick enough to beat guys like Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezz Charles and Archie Moore - they must've been RRREEEEAAALLL SSLLOOWWW

PPS Rocky ended EVERY fight with his face destroyed??

Hows he look here?? Not a mark on him - no cuts lumps or bumps there??

How about here in dressing room post Archie Moore - again virtually unmarked?? What's going on there??

in contrast with his beaten opponents dressing room

How about here - in the throws of finishing LaStarza - looking pretty fresh faced there too??

Who's got the mashed face here??

Any marks on Rock's face after Don Cockell??

PS Galento was 5'8" - Not 5'11" as you stated earlier - THAT IS A FACT

Also I do have my suspicions that Galento, if he trained properly, would be nowhere near the 16 and a half stone mark - I think his natural weight if trained to peak condition would be nearer the 13 and a half stone mark - at the heaviest - seeing him in later years on a programme with Joe Louis when Tony had lost a lot of weight - he was tiny - real skinny - didn't look anywhere near a heavyeight - i would've said he looks to have a pretty small frame really

The fact that Tony was shorter than Rocky makes for an interesting visual. Aside from Beshore, I'm not sure Marciano ever found himself in such a situation. Galento was reportedly under 225 for Nova, a reasonable weight for him, while he scaled over 20 pounds more for the Baer brothers.

While this is a situation where Tony could put his quick jab to very good use, it's not where he lived, and I think he'd eagerly accept the brawl offered him. An early flash knockdown from a Galento hook is a real possibility here, but then he'd be confronted with an attrition beat down. Marciano was susceptible to cuts, but Tony was stopped three times by them, and Rocky could paint a face as well as he could get his own bloodied up. Galento had a terrific chin, and Marciano was neither as precise a puncher as Louis, or possibly as hard a puncher as Max Baer was. Therefore, I suspect a stoppage on cuts in favor of Rocky is the most plausible outcome. Galento went into the championship rounds twice, defeating Nova, and if he's in decent shape, this could go a while.

  14. HIS DEFENCE WAS GOOD COMPARED WITH A NORMAL PERSON, SIMPLE, IT WAS NOT GREAT COMPARED WITH A GREAT LEVEL OF FIGHTERS, AND THIS VIDEO WAS ABOUT HIS BEST MOMENTS.

NO THANKS, I KNOW MARCIANO, I SAW HIS FIGHTS.IT IS BECAUSE I SAID THAT HE WAS SLOW LIKE THE HELL FOR HIS SIZE AND HE DID NOT HAVE GOOD DEFENCE.

O YES GREAT DEFENCE, his face was perfect
GALENTO WAS 5´9 NOT 5´8 IT IS A FACT:deal,. MY POINT IS THAT HE WAS MORE COMPACT AND HE HAD MORE POWER THAN ANY RIVAL OF ROCKY.
