I dont think Louis had the chin that Marciano had though.

Louis was drop by lesser punchers than Galento and stagger by the likes of Conn.

 

Joe Louis didn't have the best of chins though. He was down quite a lot compared to other great champions.

there is no doubt galento was a very dangerous contender but I believe that a heavyweight KO punch that lands right is a KO punch regardless of how heavy the guy is. sufficient force to generate a human ten second concussion is all that is required. If a guy is out for 3 minutes or 1 minute its only the ten second count than counts!

never mind how hard they hit a bag. I have no doubt galento and heavier guys hit bags with more force than Walcott and moore but how clever where they at landing such blows on the chin of rated contenders? Did galento, foreman and tua have the knack to land as many of these blows cleanly against world class fighters as well as the build up guys they met on the way up?

what counts is a guys connection ratio on world class guys with their Sunday punch. Moore and Walcott knocked a lot more world class fighters stiff than galento, tua or even George foreman. Im not talking TKO stoppages im talking count outs. to me that is sufficient KO power.

If moore and Walcott had the better KO connection ratio against top men that makes both more of a danger in my book than even bigger guys.

 

really i do not read even your posts , because you have no argument , you are on the forum to say nonsense like " great post" to any guy who defend marciano.i respect other rocky fans because they have their argument . the only fact is that you are an absolute fanboy of rocky marciano and you can´t accept other thing different than rocky winning. and i can name tons of fighter who would beat rocky marciano.plain and simple
if you want we can make a poll asking " did have marciano great defence? was marciano fast? was marciano skilled?

 

one thing is for sure, foreman was old , he knocked down twice stewart and stewart was by far harder puncher than any rival of rocky. record 43(40ko). and he was a hw, 227 pounds of muscle. and foreman won the fight . and he won the belt again in his 40s, rocky was retired when he was 32 years old to do not lose. and foreman would destroy rocky it is for sure.:deal

please... tell me when i said that big george was a master of the defence...

foreman did not need great defense because he had iron chin and brutal physical strength to push back his rivals, in this case alex was young and fastt so he did hurt the face of george with the jab, but he ran from a old man.and this old man knocked him down twice.
simply i said that to say "rocky marciano had great deffence" or "marciano was fast" is the biggest bul**** that i listened ever. and it is a fact

 

No one said that Marciano's defense was great, it was just better than it looks at a quick glance, and he did not get hit as much as a lot of people think. Nobody claims Marciano was fast either. Yes, he was pretty slow in his last couple of title defenses because he was past his prime, but the Marciano of the early 50's wasn't slow, and he wasn't quick he either. It was pretty normal handspeed.

I have yet to see any Rocky fans claim he had great defense. I have seen them say it was underrated, not bad, etc, but never great. Same with his hand speed. And yes, Marciano circa 1951 or 1952 did have faster hands than Frazier and Foreman. Foreman, along with Sonny Liston, had the slowest hands of any ATG heavyweight.

 

:rofl:rofl:rofl rocky marciano is the most slow "great" champ ever. young foreman who fought peralta,jose roman or chuvalo had faster legs than rocky by a mile, and i think that george had a bit faster hands too, joe frazier was faster with hands,legs and with the dick too. please... liston had faster legs than rocky and hands too(check liston vs williams and liston vs patterson) . we are talking about guys who were around 20-35 pounds heavier than rocky. rocky was a ****ing slow guy for his small size. and yes tons of rocky fans claim that he had great defence
