probably go with cooper. even though tony was the better contender. cooper i think is exactly what tony wouldn't want. inside guy who threw a lot of punches while having a decent defensive/countering edge. i dont think tony could get him out of thier to be honest. meh."grumble grumble the old days be better ah jim"
If he hadn't been cheated big time twice then Bert Cooper's list of stoppage victims would have been : Evander Holyfield , Michael Moorer , Orlin Norris , and who knows who else ? most probably a few other big names and he would have been remembered as 1 of d champions with a big 2 huge upset over Evan Fields . He also beat Henry Tillman and stopped Willie De Witt , d gold & silver heavyweight medalists of d 1984 Olympics games . Cooper also stopped Anthony Wade who went d full 10 rds against Corrie Sanders in South Africa , d full 8 against Ike Ibeabuchi and d full 10 against Ruddock . Cooper was d only man 2 stop each of Wade and De Witt . I guess that d at least 2 times he was robbed of a well deserved stoppage win discouraged Cooper and led him 2 quit in some of his fights . If u were going 2 fight Bert Cooper , u'd better have your gloves torn b4 d fight begins and a cornerman who takes his time in replacing and rewrapping it . Tony Galento (however) was a very fat cheater who is praised 4 being KOd by Joe Louis :yep . Y fight Jimmy Bivins or Lee Q Murray if u could fight Tony Galento , Lou Nova and a few bums yet even worse ?
well burt should be the fav and likely batter two tony tony is tough and guys like lou nova and max baer among others were not easy guys to fight
Going with Ser Bert Cooper. better conditioning ( when at his best ), dangerous infighting game, and tendency to throw a lot of shots when opportunity provided. his chin wasn't the greatest, but it certainly took some of the better punchers he fought a lot of shots to get him out of there, while taking plenty in return. My thinking is that this will look similar to Cooper's fight with Joe Hipp.
never saw the fight, but apparently Norris had some sort of knee or ankle injury which haulted the action resulting in a TKO win for Cooper.. Bert was already up on the cards at the time of the stoppage though.
Cooper by KO. They both kinda sucked at times but Cooper sucked less. Cooper was quicker, a better boxer, more explosive, and just better overall. Cooper had more big moments (if not wins) vs. more top fighters than Galento. Yeah, Galento dropped Louis... Louis was down a lot for an all-time great though. Cooperhad good moments vs. Mercer, Bowe (for a round), Holyfield, and Moorer in losing efforts. He beat Henry Tillman, Tyrone Booze, and Willie DeWit KO2 in 1987. His best years were after his loss to Foreman in '89 until right after his loss to Mike weaver in '93. During this stretch he beatOrlin Norris Ko8 (Norris injured his knee but Cooper was winning), Joe hipp KO5 (perhaps his best performance), and Rocky Pepeli KO8. He dropped Holyfield and Moorer x2. he also gave Mercer hell.
Cooper stopped Hipp due 2 swelling around Hipp's eyes . I think Norris' knee problems began in d Cooper fight and he injured it by going down hard . Haven't seen it yet because i couldn't find it but this is what i read .
This is going to be a wild brawl that will end in a stoppage, and I'm going to favor the more durable fighter in Two Ton.
although bert did gas badly at times in the later rounds i think in this fight he would halt galento before the 7th
