Generations are sticky to define because they overlap eachother. Lets go with since 2000, or the best fighter in the last several years.

In terms of skill and intangibles, he can beat anybody 118 and below, a group loaded with more talent than 140-147 by far, 147 just has the more marketable names and size.

Rafa Marquez? Simply too big for Cristian.

Martin Castillo gets annihilated at this point, as does Montiel and Kirilov.

As does anybody from 112 moving up, such as Donaire

who the **** is miguel cotto:rofl he's not even a real champ:deal when floyd was 27 he was gunning for his third ring title. when cotto steps up and actually beats a champion then come talk about a "legacy fight" cotto could never influence floyd's legacy:hat

Floyd needs to fight an ATG in his prime...or he will never be at the level of a SRL, Duran, Pernell, JCC, RJJ...

And as much as I love Cotto, hes not an ATG

but Cotto is better than Hatton..

So what does that say about Floyd beating Hatton

floyd beating hatton will soldify his legacy at 140.
if floyd beats hatton his resume will look like this:

130: genaro hernandez(active ring champ when defeated)
    135: jose luis castillo
140: ricky Hatton (active ring champ when defeated)
147: carlos baldomir (active ring champ when defeated)
    154: oscar de la hoya

what fighter in our era has defeated more active ring champions. cotto is not a champion don't get it twisted. cotto has ricky's old trinket.:deal

bigtime, you will hype up anybody Floyd is facing just to make him look good. If Mayweather was facing Cotto, you would be bashing Hatton and praising Cotto.

    To the original post?

Disagree with point 1, agrre with point 2:yep Also believe there's a point 3 which is Paul Williams:good

That would essentially clean out the best in the divsion and earn loads of respect.

C Money, who do you have as the best fighter of this generation.

You know I hate Floyd, but to be objective I have to hand it to him?

But like I said, he has to fight Cotto IMO.

Cotto beat SSM and that trumps beating DLH:yep He's beaten Quintana and Judah which isnt far from Judah Baldomir:nono

Go fly a kite!!! Cotto is the #1 fight at WW for PBF should he get past Hatton.

At welterweight, Cotto actually has a better resume than Mayweather...

Mayweather - TKO Mitchell, UD Judah, UD Baldomir
Cotto - TKO Quintana, TKO Urkal, TKO Judah, UD Mosley
