Watched this fight again today, hadn't watched it in a while, great show by Ty after collar bone was cracked early in fight.
Sims was on a long run of wins and ranked 6.
For a guy with only a handful of pro fights this was a great display by Tyrell.
More or less won one handed.
    Anyone see the fight ?

Its been a great number of years since I've seen it. But it was a great effort on Biggs part, especially as you say for having so few fights. Sims was a dangerous puncher and still a very live opponent when Biggs took him on. Tyrell earned his wings that night.

Yes, I think it was Biggs's best performance, by far.
The injury made him box real smart and disciplined, having to rely on his left.

Saw it many years ago, and Ty showed true heart in carrying on.Under the right circumstances, would have been a champ, however brief.Still trips me out thinking about the fact that Jeff busted Ali limp once.

I know this is Titan's comment. But apparently Ali sparred with Sims around 1980 or 1981 ( probably in preparation for either the Holmes or Berbick fight. ) sims hit him with a shot to the mouth that left him with a badly cut lip, though perhaps Titan has a more accurate story.

Hi Mark, it's been many, many years since I've read about it, but Magoo hit it right on the head.

Mr Titan Mr Magoo....thanks for that.. i had never heard that.
I read a little about Sims in trying to understand the level of Tyrell's opposition, but i had never read that.
Sims was quite a dangerous puncher although lacking in finesse by most accounts.
    Thanks again.
