    Indeed, KO guaranteed and early.

Rahman would probably be too much of a leap in opposition, right now. Fields has been fighting complete nobodies up to this point, and while Barrett is not what he was once thought to be, he is still somewhat of a known name, and is known to have been a world class contender in the past, so he's a good level of opponent for Fields, in my opinion. A somewhat big-known name like Barrett that also offers not much risk is exactly the kind of opponent that Fields needs to cut his teeth on, as he starts to enter the big time fights.

Maybe a Rahman level fight next, if Fields does well against Barrett.

    I suppose you're right.

My only concern though, is that Tye is 33 years old and has really faced no one. If he doesn't start showing us what he's got, then the parade is going to pass him by. I guess the Barrett fight may give us some insite as to weather he has real potential, or is just a beefed up clubfighter.

Oh, he's not much more than a beefed up club fighter, alright. But he's so beefed up, that it might carry him farther than we'd expect.

I think it'll be an enteraining fight. Barrett has been there before, as we saw him getting pounded around the ring like rag doll in the Valuev fight which he had little to no success in.

I think Fields is obviously less skilled than Valuev, but probably much more powerful............I think if Fields can chase Barrett into a corner, and then, somehow, manage to land a few of is amateur but brutal shots, he may KO Barrett.

You know, Fields has actually beaten a few decent journeymen in his day. When he signed with Top Rank, they actually stepped down his level of competition. By the way people talk about him, you'd think Fields didn't blow out Sherman Williams and Bruce Seldon.

Plain and simple, this isn't enough of a step up. All this does is get him back to the level of fighter he was facing before he signed with Bob Arum.

    I disagree.

I think Barrett will be easily the best opposition Fields has face. He's not what he was, or maybe, not what he was thought to be, but Barrett is still step up for Fields, who has not yet fought even the first decent name.

Seldon is almost a decent name, but he's far from being considered a world class fighter. Barrett, at least used to be considered a world class fighter, and Monte is not that old yet, either. His name is still at least, somewhat known and somewhat credible.

Thats what he said after Fields latest fight on Versus. Rahman brings much more credibility at this point than Barrett. Barrett is at the tail end of his career and was recently koed. This is a step up but its still another set up designed for Fields to win.
