How does Tyrell Biggs do if he came along in this era of heavyweight boxing? I think he might clean up. Regardless of his faults (and there were many, I know), the man had skills and I think he would at least be holding one belt if not more in today's heavyweight landscape.
I think he'd have a belt, somewhere in-between a Sam Peter and a Charles Martin type champion And as I think about it Peter vs Biggs is a good fight
He mixes it up with Parker, White, Pulev, Kowanacki, Ortiz etc. He would look ok vs Fury, but would take a beating from AJ and especially Wilder.
Loses. He won't like being in there with tall guys where his defensive faults are multiplied. And I sure don't like him against a Whyte either where he will eat a big hook. Parker is a good fight but I like the Parker gastank a lot better the second half of the fight. He is on par with maybe Ortiz and that is a good match and winable for either. Povetkin goes through him. Maybe the Arreola types he can win but not sure of that. Don't like his chances at all especially factoring in the deterioration factor of ko losses against a Fury/Wilder/Joshua/Povetkin/etc. He is just a guy that cannot afford too many subtractions and continue to win.
Their are no Mike Tyson's out there today so he'd probably win a championship, probably wouldn't hold it for long though. Biggs would be better skilled than the fighters he would face in today's fight game. But his focus and determination issues would eventually show up and he would lose.
Biggs was a mediocre heavyweight. That being stated he would probably win a paper title at some point today.
Was a good boxer very educated jab and movement but lacked toughness. Fury would probably win on late stoppage AJ would brawl him to a stoppage in about seven rnds after getting outboxed early and wilder would spark him out after looking silly for a couple of rounds.
He wouldn't do well. He barely got past a past-prime David Bey in his own day. He never beat a proper contender. He wasn't a convincing contender at all as a professional. He was a prospect who had a name because of the amateurs, the Olympic gold in LA. But as a professional contender he was out of his depth.
The only way I could see him doing well is if he could make the 200 limit. He matches up well with Dorticos, Gassiev, and the others in comparison to heavyweights.
A little harsh, he got to 15 -0 beating some good guys , then got Tyson prime ATG, Damiani Prime unbeaten , Mason prime unbeaten , Bowe , Lewis all unbeaten. That's a hell of a list. He beat Tillis, Sims, Snipes, Bey, Occasio, Marin ( unbeaten) that's a fair list of fringe guys. Biggs was good enough to compete at elite level but not win. He landed in a hell of an era.
