I thought the Duvas took the Tyson fight so early because they knew they had to cash him out due to his out of the ring issues? Edit: never mind, I double checked and it looks like you are indeed right, Biggs clean and sober since 85. So did the Duvas think this was a cash out fight or did they just throw him to the wolves early kind of like they did with Holyfield.
I think they might've seen that he wasn't a world beater and therefore thrown him in with Tyson. He didn't have an easy time on the way up.
The more I watch of Tyrell Biggs the more I can’t help but think that if he is absolutely on his A game, he would be able to take a decision off of Golota. That jab of his was so dang fast and accurate. He had some underrated power on it too.
This would be a great scrap... Biggs is quite the underrated fighter (not even a single highlight reel solely of him up on YouTube) and I think that Golota is right at his level. Underrated power, precision, and quickness in both the left and right hands of both men, and I'm sure that both of them will go down on the way to a tough decision... But I'll pick Tyrell to take it.
I could watch Biggs fight all day. Love the athletic guys with the sharp skills and fast hands. And yes, it’s tragic that there is not a highlight reel of Tyrell on YouTube, if only we knew a talented video editor who enjoys making such works of art…..
Yes, yes, what a shame... I was actually thinking of getting to him once I'm done with the Charles Williams reel I'm working on. Great minds think alike. Have you seen the one I did on Robbie Sims? It took me a bit to get back into making em, but I finished that one a couple weeks ago.
That would be a real treat my friend! I always enjoy your work. I haven’t seen the Robbie Sims one, I’ll go check that out, thanks!
It's like, there are Nutella people and there are hummus people and never the two shall meet unless they overlap, but other than that, these two groups are mutually exclusive.
Biggs had some skills on him but in my opinion was not tough enough to hang with Golota who hit harder and had more of the dog in him. Biggs always struck me as a bit of a glass cannon.
I think the best Biggs, perhaps the one we might have seen had we scratched the surface hard enough, outboxes and outspeeds big Andy. Golota seems to have achieved some kind of mythical status due to beating up the start of the shadow of big daddy. I know we are inevitably talking about peak v peak here, but for me Golota wasn't a hard puzzle to solve, big, hits hard, does the basics well but Biggs was simply a better boxer, so even adding the caveat that styles make fights, Biggs is simply better and stylistically wrong for Golota. This might be a poor man's (destitute man's?) Ali v Williams....
Golota was levels bigger and stronger than Biggs and Biggs was easy to drill in the face. The “best Biggs” went life and death with David Bey and suffered a bad cut, got beaten to a pulp against Tyson, and lost to Damiani on a cut while down on the cards (Biggs really came prepared and tried to win that fight). What would happen in this fight is that Golota would beat the crap out of Biggs and open his face up, but leave open a significant chance for Biggs to win by DQ or sudden tko while way down on the cards. If Biggs won this, you’d be left screaming at the TV in disbelief of Golota, not out of being impressed by Biggs.
