Wonder Boy won that. Woodley didn't win more than 2 rounds and that last one wasn't a 10-8.

Thompson can blame himself for this. He did NOTHING, when Woodley had his back on the fence. In 10 rounds Woodley have done nothing with his back against the fence, but Wonderboy just didn't do anything at all. Woodley won the first fight, and i can also see him winning this. Neither did anything in the first two rounds.

30 hours ago this could potentially end up being the best main card of the year. Now it might just be the worse. Teymur vs Lando was the only one worth watching.

You do understand when little to nothing happens the aggressor is awarded the rd right? Thus Thompson won 1 and 2 very clearly since he controlled the pace, was the aggressor etc. Woodley probably took 3 based on the takedown but Thompson made it close by winning the striking exchanges and buzzing Woodley at the end. 4 was more of the same for Thompson, winning on aggression and octagon control, also landed some good strikes. 5 was either mans round until Woodleys last minute blitz, so definitely a 10-9 since it wasn't very dominant. Thus a very easy fight to score. 48-47 Thompson.

Neither man deserves the belt after such an awful fight.

"Effective aggressiveness means moving forward and landing a legal strike."
"Effective defense means avoiding being struck, taken down or reversed while countering with offensive attacks."

Wonderboy wasn't effective at all, landing just 32% of his strikes in the first two rounds. Effective striking was equal in the first two rounds, neither did any grappling, Thompson had the Octagon control, but Woodley both had the more effective aggresiveness and effective defense. That's a FACT.

So stop calling it a clear Wonderboy win, it wasn't.

I don't like Woodley at all, but Wonderboy had 10 rounds to pull the tricker and he DIDN'T. He can only blame himself, stop blaming the judges for such an pathetic performance - from both fighters.

Wonder Boy won 3 rounds. You can say he wasn't doing that much in those rounds but he was still doing more than Woodley was and he was the aggressor. There's just no way Woodley won 3 rounds. The draw in the first fight was a fair result but Wonder Boy deserved the victory in this one.

Exactly. It's not rocket science. Thompson clearly won 1-2 on octagon control.

Yes. Wonder Boy did not lose that fight IMO and it's an opinion which is shared by the vast majority of those who saw it. People are entitled to their opinions but I'm not going to bother wasting my time debating it with anyone because no one is going to be able to convince me otherwise.

So the fact that Woodley had the more effective aggressiveness and effective defense suddenly doesn't mean anything? I can't stand Woodley and his constant whining and bitching. But Wonderboy can only blame himself for not doing anything in 10 ****ing rounds. Before the fight he said that he would let his hands go in this fight, which he didn't do in the first fight. He did much less this fight, than he did in the first. The two first rounds were even - bases on the rules of the octagon. Simple as that. Wonderboy could've won that fight, and i hoped he would - but i just can't defend him after that pathetic performance.

I really wanted to see Thompson win but he just didn't do enough to get the job done. This is an example of a close fight that could realistically be scored either way. The only round of the fight Thompson won definitively without question was round 4. Woodley clearly won round 5. Round 1 and 2 were razor close, with both guys landing a combined 9 significant strikes. First round I edged slightly to Thompson, 2nd round to Woodley on the strength of a couple decently placed right hands, one of which cut Thompson. Round 3 close but gave it to Woodley on the TD. Really wasn't much in it. For those complaining about aggression and octagon control should remember that these criteria are subjectively applied and are the least important scoring categories. I don't believe a fighter deserves a round were they are coming forward more but doing little more than feinting. I'd rather those type of rounds be scored 10-10.

Wonder Boy was ROBBED. 3-2 Wonderboy Thompson . Uneventful fight, and Woodley did well in the last minute of the final round but it was a CLEAR 3-2 fight!
There's no fathomable way it could be scored a draw let alone a Woodley win.

I'm sober now... But still think Thompson did enough to win. Don't see anyone in the division 'beating' Woodley. Thompsons the only one with the style to trouble him. Who's the next best thing to Wonderboy? Nearly 40 year old Maia? Who's excellent and all, but Woodleys the worst style matchup possible for him.

Yeah Woodley won't lose for a long time if he stays focused. WW sucks. Two of the top contenders are blown up Lightweights, another is nearly 40 years old and matches up poorly with Woodley, the rest are just mediocre. Larkin appeared to have something, but the ******ed UFC don't seem to think he's worth it.

The fightmetric stats suggest Woodley did enough to win rounds 2,3 and 5 (which is how 2/3 judges and I scored it)

Whenever you can conceivably give either man 3 rounds than it isn't a robbery, just a close fight. Matt Hamill vs Bisping is a good example of a clear robbery.
