I've always liked Rocky, I'm very happy for him, he's not the greatest boxer, but he has power. I picked him to beat Callum Smith, which was a terrible pick in retrospect, but I figured it might be a case of who landed a bomb first. But the showing against Rebrasse there was no excuse for, then his weak effort against John Ryder, scared me off some more, then he blasted Brophy out in a round, Fielding is the walking definition of running hot and cold.

    Hahaha

How embarrassing for Smith though, the suit is bad enough but to lose to Zeuge and then watch Rocky stop him and have to pretend to be happy about it.

Another fighter from Liverpool wins a world title (albeit a regular title) and Paul Smith has to sit there and pretend to be happy.

What a great night of boxing.

Ah, its not embarrassing at all IMO, I'd have picked Rocky to KO Paul in 5. EASILY.

That belt will be cynically milked to make a lot of money in the uk, you have to wonder what goes on behind the scenes between promoters. That belt was worth nothing in Germany.
Having said that the kid was terrible, almost too terrible to believe

However bad Zeuge was, I'm pleased for Rocky. He's a good lad.

In fairness to Russell, he is normally spot on and Zeuge was the favourite, not many gave Fielding much of a chance in Germany.

    It was an upset.

Good! Maybe Rocky will give Ryder a rematch, and The Gorilla can finally pick up a strap at SMW.:ggg

Go take a look at the League, if anyone needs to know what this boards opinion of the fight was. Near consenus Zeuge. Zeugue was also a comfortable -400 favorite last I knew.

I'd love to see that, actually. They both have some momentum now... maybe it'll actually happen.

    BJS to step up?

If he has ambitions of stepping up, there's no better chance.

Speaking of Billy Joe, his effort against Ryder is vastly underrated, especially when you consider Ryder is something of a southpaw killer, he KO'd Bloyer in 2, Nielsen in 5, and Cox in 2. All southpaws. His right hook is lethal to them, speaking of which, he's probably the only guy I've seen somewhat slightly vaguely rock Saunders. Billy Joe's win over Ryder deserves a LOT more credit than it gets.:deal:
