This content is protected Someone on here recently mentioned Tyrone as one to watch. This is insane. 21 seconds. (Apologies if this has already been posted elsewhere).
Why is that insane ? Also its very old Also Spong isnt one to watch at all Hes had like 80 kickboxing fights and is almost 34, he wont get anywhere near any title.
Ahh, I only looked at the date on the tweet. I don't have Twitter and it came up on another sports forum. Then it said something about wanting to fight DelBoy. I genuinely thought it was from 5 days ago. I've been had then I guess, yes?
I'd put money on Spong to beat many heavies today and he'll be top 15 very soon. It was me who said he was one to watch. He's sparred with top guys already like Ortiz and held he's own. Spong has knocked out he's last opponent just as quick as the video, he's power and speed is undeniable. He is true to the art of striking and was striking coach for blackzillians in the UFC. He's the real deal, ignore the haters. Maybe he won't be champ but he'll make a good splash and he's already WBO top ten and Latino WBC defending champion.
Spong knocked out hes last heavyweight boxing opponent by hitting him on the glove. While the opponent was defending. Spong can bang and he will cause problems no question.
Another Ryan Ford IMO (which isn't bad). Will get to a position where he fights a contender and ultimately lose. His las win was against a career CW who wasn't all that anyway, The Russian Hammer dispatched him just as quickly. Harder to predict at HW as you do get a lot of wild cards and kickboxers do transition well. His power looks legit but I suspect once he gets in there with someone who can actually box he'll struggle
lol to be fair, Spong started boxing 3 years ago where he made he's debut. But hey, if no one wants to believe in him no worries!!! Cast your view elsewhere
What he has: Speed - fast and tight combinations doesnt leave himself exposed too much Power - he hits very hard (Legit KO Power) Skill - striking coach, 17 years pro experience in muay thai/kickboxing at the highest level Tons of self-belief and ambition otherwise he wouldn't be here doing this Strength - He's a strong, well-built guy @ 6'2 he has excellent muscle mass, and is used to going hard rounds with bigger as well as faster guys. What he is lacking: Experience - no boxing pedigree whatsoever (boxing is very different to anything else, timing, ring IQ etc) Reach - (not the tallest guy, same reach as povetkin but povetkin can get away with it being a highly decorated boxer) Proper/ high level management - needs a high level trainer/ good promoter etc His fight experience in the kickboxing world will no doubt aid him in fighting an opponent, let's be real.. heavyweights are more often than not brawlers/fight boxers, and Spong has always been a punch perfect, eloquent striker, tight guard, good timing etc. I back him against top 15, maybe not champion.
Spong is a great addition to any striking sport, he someone you like just for the sake of the sport, being a hard worker, explosive, fast, aggressive, skill full.... he's far from boring. And the heavies have plenty of boring fighters, fighters like Charr or Spong? He'll bring some excitement no doubt! lol
Whyte, Miller and VK are the obvious examples of former kick boxers that come to mind for HW who have done well. Lipinets has impressed at a lower weight too. Not tally writing him off but it's a big big change to make in your 30's. I'll be shocked if he becomes a consensus top 10 dude, though the division is pretty weak so there's every chance
