Any thoughts on this underrated contender? He’s fought some notable fighters such as Simon Brown, John David Jackson, Freddie Pendleton, Steve Little, Julio Cesar Vazquez, Thomas Tate and was unlucky to come up short from becoming a title holder. A very tough scrapper and heavy hitter who could box and brawl when needed. He’s also been in some terrific bouts most notably his two fights with Simon Brown and against Kevin Pompey. I recall he was calling out fighters such as James Toney and Gerald McClellan at the time but never had a shot with either of them.

I think he's the one that made the judges check their scorecards when he lost one of Tuesday night fights.

He was talented but arrogant-though he was better than he was.

Brown 1, along with Pompey were absolutely great fights.

Trice never managed to nab one of the major belts, but was probably better than several fighters from around that era who had. He was just unfortunate to have to go through Brown, who in my view was an excellent fighter. I don't see Trice getting by Starling, who held one of the other belts at the time, either. Trice-Honeyghan would have been interesting, but Trice likely falls a bit short there as well.

Last I remember of Trice, he was beaten in a lopsided decision by Joe Lipsey. Trice was a fun fighter to watch, and had a pretty good career.

He was incredibly arrogant and while he was good he wasn't close to what he thought he was in his own mind.

He was a tough guy. Bit of an attitude. Saw him fight a few guys on espn and saw one of his title fights with Simon brown. He was from Milwaukee which is about an hour north of where I grew up over the Illinois border

Remember when he said Toney had a heart condition after a fight ( bottle) and James got in his face in the ring

I recently rewatched those 2 fights with Simon Brown.

The first one is a classic, and the rematch was a pretty good fight too.

If he was ever in a bad fight I am unaware of it.

He would beat the brakes off of most of the 147 lb division today.
