I found this very odd, specifically where Mike states he couldn't remember anything after the 3rd round. he even states he thought he knocked Holy out...? Watching the fight again, it seems like monumentally dubious statement (and I'm a fan of Mike). This content is protected
It's not uncommon for guys to claim having no memory of certain segments of a fight or even the entire fight after that point. It does seem a bit strange in this case.
Have any of you been 12 rounds? I have talked to guys who have- you would be surprised what some men don't remember.
I remember watching that fight live, I was stunned, that was Holyfield's best performance. It's sad what has happened to him recently, getting beaten in under a round by an MMA fighter.
The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. He may well not have a clear memory of events, due to the experience. However, that it was repeated over and over; given various angles of perspective, implying he had been impaired from round-3 onward, along with the constant references to March, points to this being a hammed up promotional appeal for a rematch.
Tyson was parroting sort of what Joe Louis had said I believe after Max Schleming hurt him early in their fight.
