Not really, you can work as hard as anyone but if you don't have the talent you won't make it. Tyson was powerful, fast, explosive, amazing chin, very strong naturally without weight training, good reflexes etc... Most of this either you have in your genes either you don't. And when you have a genetic specimen like tyson working really hard and being dedicated... Dangerous
Obviously he had sufficient genetics to make him what he was but we have no idea how his genetic assets compared to the rest of the field, the vast majority of whom didn't have the will and dedication and mentality to work towards being a champion. Listen to Cus again. He was wise.
Yes, obviously he wasn't an average boy by any means. But that's different to being "the most genetically gifted boxer". It's assuming too much and taking away from his work to say that about him - or any other champion! Tyson from day one was 100% dedicated to learn, work and succeed. He may have been a physical freak or phenom and those are rare in ordinary life, but not as rare as people who strive with 100% focus to be champions from day one. Also, even on the observable fact of his physique, he seemed to stop growing early too, so however huge he was against kids it balances out by the time he's a professional. Without the willpower he probably would have been seen as a big strong fat kid with asthma.
