Well im not only using my opinion, im using the opinions of others, guys that watched boxing thier entire lives. Lennox has a much better chance to beat ali, louis, holmes, johnson and foreman than barrera does of beating pep, saddler, argeullo and kid chocolate. I actually think ali is better than any featherweight.
I use different criteria when ranking fighters: Ability, resume, longevity, and accomplishments. Seeing as you put so much stock in lists compiled by experts, I'll refer you to ESPN's top 50 of all time. It was made in 2007 and features Marco Antonio Barrera but no Lennox Lewis. The list is of course rubbish...but you'd probably find it quite compelling.
Tua never even hit him so you cant say he could handle Tuas power. I will give him Mercer, lennox showed some heart in that fight although i remember having it even, and my dad had Mercer winning. Someone had a poll here months back asking for top fw rankings, i think i had Barrera and Morales 9,10. I might have swithched in the end and put Danny Lopez but i was really just giving a shout out for my dad(Lopez was his favorite) . I agree Barrera,Morales have better scalps than Lewis his wins over Holy and Tyson are a little tainted imo since both were past their primes. People like to point out that Holyfield was still a top fighter, true but he was obviously fading. When Lewis fought Tyson he was just a big puncher and thats about it.
I wouldnt rank Barrera,Morales power as good as Lennox, but at JF its comparable they were both good punchers, and both guys chins were soooooooooomuch better than Lennoxs. If they were in the same weight and had a shoot out Lewis wouldnt be able to stand the heat, where as Barrera,Morales would. The key word you mentioned was embarrasing. Lewis was ktfod by 2 so so champions. Also i though Barrera pulled out the 2nd fight with Jones as do many others. Another thing Junior Jones was a lot better than Mccall or Rahman. Morales was never knocked out in his prime either.
Yeah they could last, but my thinking is that lennox has a better chance against holmes or ali than barerra does against argeullo. Maybe im crazy, but thats just how i see it. Lennox-Holmes could go either way, 50/50. But i just think argeullo would be too much to handle for barrera or morales, his one punch knockouts are amazing. I'm no hater though if thats what people think, i have barrera comfortably above gomez all times.
You sure sound like a hater Brownpimp. You've took a giant dump over Barrera and Morales in this thread...and I hate when posters do that just to suit their agenda. Smarten up.
Lewis took alot of that shot by sliding with it. I still say he never took a sunday shot from Tua not even a saturday shot.
I think when poeple talk about Lennox possibly beating those other guys it has more to do with him being so enormous, not that he was more skilled than those guys. PFP i wouldnt give Lennox much of a chance against Alexis Arguello. In fact style wise Alexis reminds me a little of Joe Louis, if Louis wasnt so outsized by Lennox id pick him,you know even with the size difference i still give Louis a great shot.
At the end of the day...it's all speculation anyhow. Nobody knows how Lennox Lewis would do against the likes of Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, or Joe Louis. What we do know, without much doubt, is that Barrera and Morales beat better fighters than Lennox did and demonstrated a similar level of longevity.
Morales also lost both trilogies. Lewis could have beaten a prime larry holmes once in 3 fights, but that would make him look bad, not good. Morales also lost to zahir raheem and was shot by the age of 30. Morales beat greater fighters than chavez and jofre too, lets rank him higher than both. He lost the rubber matches in both trilogies, and that will be held against him. Morales's status as an elite fighter was 1997-2004, after that he kept losing.
Lennox didn't fight Holmes. Pipe down. That ****ing ****...how dare he get shot at age 30. I'm going to disregard his entire prime years as a result. Jofre and Chavez were both multiple weight world champions. Resume isn't the only factor when ranking fighters...but it's more of a factor for Heavyweights because moving through the divisions isn't an option. ...That dirty *******! How dare he spent the best part of a decade fighting the best fighters in the world and going through numerous wars.
