Michael Spinks reign at 175lbs was flawless, and his victory over Larry Holmes in the first fight is better than anything on Mike Tyson's record. You have a two weight world champion, dominated a very good division, and then moved up and inflicted Holmes first professional defeat. I have him ranked high in my ATG list than Mike Tyson, who'd be pushing to make a top 50.

Its a joke, Tyson is the better fighter, its obvious to anyone with eyes. His attributes are clearly better, his dominance more impressive, his ability to fight bigger men more impressive, Tyson pisses Gomez on:

    Speed
    Footwork
    Defense/head movement
    Power
    Timing
    Body Punching
    Combination Throwing

Yes Spinks is clearly better than Zarate, and yes Tyson's dominance of the heavyweights, is more impressive than Gomez's dominance of the 122lbers

Oh and guess what when Tyson fought men who were a whole 4lbs heavier, his performance quality didn't disapear. That imply's Gomez needs to be bigger/stronger while Tyson does not

Spinks reign at 175lbs is well overrated and nowhere near as impressive as Tyson's reign at HW. As for the Holmes wins, Spinks arguably lost both, Tyson smoked Holmes in 4. As for Spinks moving up to HW, Tyson himself fought men who were 30lbs heavier than him, men who had a good 7-8inches of height on him and beat them

As for head to head Tyson destroyed Spinks with ease and always would......Tyson has a strength advantages, if he didnt he'd still smoke Spinks though. Spinks isn't as complete as Tyson

I haven't met one person who has ever claimed Holmes deserved the decision in the first Spinks fight. Keep in mind, Michael Spinks beat an active Larry Holmes in his first fight at Heavyweight whereas Mike smoked a Larry that hadn't fought for 2 years. One win is clearly better than the other in my judgment.

I'd have liked to see Tyson campaign at Light Heavyweight. Mike was a Heavyweight, you're making a big deal of the weight difference when most of the guys he was knocking out weren't that impressive to begin with. Buster Douglas was even less impressive than a lot of his title defenses, and he still got knocked out silly in his prime. We'll disregard that here though, PP.

Michael Spinks was a Light Heavyweight...Mike Tyson was a Heavyweight...

You really won't find anybody on these boards that scored the first fight for Larry Holmes.

    Madness.

Spinks run at LHW is well overrated, its a very good run, but the way people go on about it on here overrated it. His best win is Qawi and he should be beating a 5-5 midget with slow feet, but according to the classic forum its 1 of the best wins of all time

Both Spinks-Holmes fights were close, I had them 1-1, I've seen posters who have it 2-0 Holmes, close fights

What im talking about is your perception on all the PFP fighters. Youve obviously never boxed or been around fighters, also you seem very new to the game.
Believe this little boy you have a lot to learn about the fight game.

What were the odds going into Spinks/Holmes I? I think people were probably betting on which round Spinks was going to get stopped in.

You cant argue on my perception, because you clearly haven't the brains to debate on my points, I replied to your post and you didn't have the smarts to debate the points. Debate the points or get off the thread

I bet I've boxed at a higher level than you, either that or you've been pummeled too hard. Wait aren't you the fat middle aged guy who does weights instead of boxing workouts, go out for a run :yep
