Larry Holmes was clearly defeated and outworked, I'd like to see the scorecards of these people who felt otherwise. Intriguing stuff.

 

This is likely the case given no one knew how Spinks would be able to handle the jump to HW. Spinks had youth on his side, Holmes the extra weight but given Holmes was a boxer and not the biggest puncher, the style and timing really suited Spinks.

I'm not sure Spinks acquited himself better than Williams/Witherspoon. What Tyson did to Holmes and the inactivity excuse, has some bearing but not that much HOlmes wanted that fight and was in training, Lefthook31 posted a video with Holmes talking about it months before

Yes Spinks was physically smaller/weaker than Tyson so based on this your arguing Spinks win over Holmes is better. But give Holmes 20lbs more muscle on Tyson and he still gets his ass kicked.

Do you think Spinks beats Tyson if he takes steroids to add another 20lbs of muscle?

Tyson was just more dominant in what he did and thats why at the time it was so jaw dropping

 

expect the usual **** on classic of it not being cool to rate the casually known Tyson and the casually known(for their trilogy) Barrera and Morales.

For me this is really close i feel Tyson edges them all slightly, on ability and dominance. But then Gomez was just as dominant, Barrera and Benitez are on par ability-wise with Tyson ability-wise, and Morales had the greatest level of the most decisive attribute in the sport, heart.

I can only settle on this

1) Tyson
2) Barrera - Gomez
3) Morales - Benitez

Larry Holmes was inactive for 2 years prior to fighting peak Mike Tyson, and was obviously older than he had been when Spinks had fought him.
