I dont understand why he was so **** scared of him? hed fought very bravely the first time in 89, he was the first guy who really rocked Tyson and for a couple of rounds, Bruno was having his way with Tyson. So why is it 6 years later, he fights a poorer, ring rusty, post prison Tyson and Bruno is deathly scared? Surely after watching Tysons performances against Mcneeley and Mathis Bruno would have fancied his chances
"Mr. Bruno, put your hands up why? Big Mike Tyson bouta brutalize that azz tonight." Bruno wanted to hold him all night. I actually think Golota and Bruno 2 are Tyson's best performances post-prison.
:deal This. Im the first to admit im a big critic of Bruno and his carefully guided career but truth be told i do feel a little sorry for him. Lawless + Duff didnt give a **** and were throwing him to the wolves and do ya know what? If they coulda got a 3rd fight they woulda threw him in again knowing he woulda got another hiding
How can you not walk into the ring not scared shitless of Tyson, Post prison or not, and after what he did to Golota Id be a little worried myself. Tyson always was just a scary man. You never knew what Mike you were gonna get later in his career.
I think there are several factors here. The knowledge of the first fight weighed heavily on Bruno's mind. Whilst Tyson may or may not have been the fighter of old, it doesn't matter what we think now, it's what Bruno thought then. Tyson still had a lot of his aura about him then, Bruno was never the strongest emotionally, he was still clearly intimidated by Tyson. Tyson may not have been the Tyson of old, but Bruno probably wasn;t the same fighter as he was 7 years earlier. Bruno probabaly didn't want the fight; his career aim was always to win the/a version of the world title, that ambition had been fulfilled against McCall. I understand that Bruno only got the McCall fight on condition that, if victorious, he would fsce Tyson in his first defence. Bruno's attitude was probably that he would sign anything to get the title shot, worry about the cosequences afterwards. Add this to the fact that Bruno had eye trouble, who could possibly blame him for being scared. Who would possibly want to fight Tyson with eye trouble, never mind full health?
He didn't want to be there. Against Mike or anyone else. His eye had gone too - he shouldn't have been licensed to fight.
Because he held on in fear for 5 rounds after being blown through the ropes when Mike heard the first dong. He knew then he was outclassed and outgunned. In the rematch he was at the end of his career, he was never giong to win , he knew it and everybody else knew it. He was a huge underdog. He was never any threat to Tyson. Too stiff and too rigid.
Bruno didn't do bad with Tyson the first time. Hurt him and rocked Mike. Bruno was too straight up for most top rated guys, but he was strong as hell.
I dont see why people are so impressed with Brunos first fight. The first time, Bruno fought the best fight he possibly could, and he landed pretty much one single decent punch and was generally obliterated in just a few rounds. tyson had the same invincibility aura as he ever had and was a class above Bruno (who was still one of the best fighters in the world).
It still takes heart to fight someone again who messed you up previously. Gotta at least give Bruno that much.
Bruno as has sadly been shown post career; had issues with mental health. That perhaps starts to explain the demons that might of been going through his head.
