Tyson/BrunoII; I was not alone in picking The Bomber

Bruno could bang and Tyson had looked jaded vs Mathis it was a great performance by Tyson in hindsight- prob his last great show

 

i remember i picked tyson based on the fact bruno was ****.

 

The finishing salvo was Tysons last flicker of greatness.

 

I didnt make any kind of prediction until a few mins before the fighters walked out.The feeling I got from the build up on the night was that Frank was going to get a one sided beating so I said it and called it right.Glad I waited until fight night to call it cos reading and watching the interviews all week made you think Frank had a real chance.

 

Admittedly i was sucked in and thought Bruno had a good chance.

That train of thought changed as soon as i seen Frank make his way to the ring.

 

This was the fight that got me into boxing, i'd seen bruno on the news in the aftermath of beating mccall and I couldn't understand why he wasn't fighting every week as champ (they did in wwe afterall ops)

I remember fight night thinking he was gonna be a hero battering the evil tyson.

How wrong I was :-(

 

I watched this in a packed out pub in Butlins and was the only one rooting for Tyson

 

A **** fighter that only ever lost to world class fighters and one very good fighter who was a world champion too.. He lost to Tyson, Witherspoon, Smith and Lewis. Stamina was a real problem for him, let's not forget that he was stopped in the last round by Smith while ahead on all score cards and that is definitely his worst loss as he was not outclassed. Smith could bang though and it's a shame it went how it did.

The other losses were to great fighters and he was competitive with both Witherspoon and Lewis. With Tyson he wasn't but still mananged to rock Tyson in their first encounter. He had a very good jab, even a great jab and excellent power. However he was too heavily muscled and would run out of gas as he almost did with McCall and he also did not know when to take a knee and give himself chance to recover.

A pro fighter who won the European title and also won a world title and lost a total to a total of 4 opponents, all world champions, one of who was hugely gifted (Witherspoon) but erratic and two who are all time greats in the hall of fame.

Yeah what a ****ing loser, why did he even bother taking up the sport?

It's true. Tyson was rusty against Mathis jr, and there were rumours he was looking terrible in sparring etc.

Bruno was really talking the talk during the buildup. Then on the night of the fight, he **** himself - big time. I've never seen such a big powerful fighter **** himself so badly.

It looked ominous as soon as Tyson threw his first right hand.

"He was on me like a harbour shark."

 

Bruno should not of past the Medical with his eye sight. In his book, his trainer kept on distracting the medical doctor, when Frank Bruno was getting his medical done.

Still physically, Bruno was not shot. But he had totally taken his physical condition to the next level, and it was detrimental to his performance. He had too munch non-functional muscle mass, in terms of co-ordination and flexibility. The best Frank Bruno was the Frank Bruno that fought Lennox Lewis, he was a perfect balance physically, and technically he was on point.
