I always thought Pre - Prison Tyson Ko's Evander. Holyfields steroid usage hadn't maxed out yet and produced the hulk he later became for those Tyson fights

I’ll never understand this mentality.

Are you ignoring the entirety of boxing history, which tells us that there are two people in the ring throwing punches and sometimes the opponent has success and the fighter has to overcome adversity? Which fighters in history never faced adversity.

Overcoming adversity is a mark of greatness in a fighter.

So you’re holding it against Holyfield that he actually OVERCAME adversity … but Tyson (who never once overcame adversity) gets a pass because you’ll take any old excuse for him getting completely dominated by a 42-1 underdog.

Just have that same energy for Tyson Fury against Ngannou and we’re good.

 

Tyson has come back from adversity on multiple occasions. Even against Big Bus when Dougie was saved by the bell in the 8th...after a long count!!

Holyfield was far, FAR more beatable than Tyson. "Undefeated, Undisputed & Unbeatable" was a phrase invented for Mike Tyson himself.

Tyson never came back from adversity to WIN. (Yeah, he was behind a bit vs the pedestrian Frans Botha and won, but never in distress in a way that would be characterized as adversity.

Mike was undefeated … until he fought Buster Douglas. He wasn’t undefeated for as long as Larry Holmes or Rocky Marciano, to name two.

Mike was undisputed … for about 18 months — from Spinks to Douglas. That encompassed all of two fights (against Bruno and Truth Williams).

And if he was unbeatable, how tf did Buster dominate him like that? He was in his prime at 23 years old — if he’s unbeatable, he wins and there’s no need for excuses. He was Goldilocks … he would win when everything was ‘just right’ — and every time he loses, his little army says ‘doesn’t count, he gets an asterisk * because he has an excuse.’

Holyfield was no more beatable than Mike. In fact, Holyfield was less beatable than Tyson the two times they fought, haha, because. He won.

 

The spirit of the lord, with even more help from steroids, and his dome, was Holyfield then and only then able to beat Tyson.

Tyson came back from adversity on a many occasion to win: Tillis, Bruno, Ruddock, Botha, Spinks, Holmes, Bonecrusher and the most important one that gets overlooked was the first 7 seconds against Alex Stewart.
