Good on him. If he wants to work out, get in shape and boxing some exhibitions for charity that's all positive stuff.

Don't be surprised if he changes his mind tomorrow though. Or gets injured. It's hard for 50-somethings sometimes, to get quite as fit as they want to be without getting an injury, it can be hard sustaining the kind of motivation you'd take for granted if you were 20-ish.

All true - in my mind's eye, I'm still that twentysomething with a body that responded quickly to any kind of input or stimulus; getting back in shape was a matter of a few weeks. In my physical body, though, I'm a guy approaching 60 - not in bad shape, but I'll never see the man I was 30 years ago. And improving what I have is a cautious trial of effort and rest, and paying attention to warning signs I once would have ignored.

Still, doesn't mean to give up trying. As we say in rehab - as long as there's movement, there's hope. Hats off to him, hope he does well

No he isn't planning a come back. Literally the first line in the article says they are exhibition bouts for charity. He's training for 4 round bouts.

This doesn't shock me at all as 90% of boxers end up returning to the ring in some capacity as a sparring partner/trainer/manager/etc. What shocks me is that msn.com is still up and running. This is like running into an old classmate from high school who was dying of cancer.

I hear you. I'm about to turn 45 and before the Covid outbreak I was still boxing at the gym four nights a week. All the 20 year old's call me the old man lol! It definitely is getting harder as the years go by. Just found out last week that I need to have another knee surgery. All those years of running have really taken a toll.

I wish Mike well with his charity fights. He could raise a fortune for some folks that could really use the help right now.

I love how a lot people are thinking that he's making a legit comeback. When he said he's only doing exhibitions.

Wait' till you hit 60, the memory of all those 5 mile runs and 10k races to stay in shape vanish as your knee hurts climbing the stairs,, it ain't funny but you might as well laugh.
