You don't know if Douglas would have been champion. Page wasn't defending his title against Douglas. Using your analogy, Page wasn't in "form" against Buster after losing to Tubbs and others before that. Therefore, Page is not a good win for Douglas. Neither is Berbick who got blitzed by Tyson and lost to Truth Williams before facing Douglas. He wasn't in "form" ether. McCall was Tyson's sparring partner and part time boxer.

Witherspoon eeked out a win over Tubbs. SO because Tubbs lost by a **** hair, that makes him less than formidable against Tyson?

One year before facing Tyson, Thomas was considered the future of the division. He loses a tough fight to Berbick (who Tyson destroys) and battles with heroine. But Thomas was not the washed up has-been some claim. THAT Thomas can be seen fighting Holyfield years later. Like I said before, Thomas was still highly regarded and a true test for Tyson. Holmes was retired, Spinks-Cooney was in the works, and Thomas was ranked #3 in the world.

berbick had much to offer at that time. after losing to douglas nobody wanted to fight berbick yet berbick was still good enough to notch up another four year 7 fight winning streak. Berbick v douglas was an eliminator for the wbc title.

a 217lb witherspoon also "eeked out" a SD win over mark williams when he was in much beter shape than he ever was agianst tubbs. Then douglas knocked williams out with jabs.

actualy two years 1984-85 - before Tyson turned pro.

THomas lost to Berbick in 1986...ONE YEAR before facing Tyson. Fix your mathematics. And it's MIKE Williams, not Mark Williams. And who ducked Berbick?

The last rated fighter Thomas beat was mike weaver in 1985 - around the time Tyson turned pro.

Mike, mark who gives a ****? one judge had him beat witherspoon.

post douglas berbick beat melvin foster who was unbeaten and beat fighters like mitch green and truth williams and later took a peak micheal moorer the distance. even as a washed up old man the next generation of heavyweights could not knock out old man berbick. berbick gave hasim rahman all he could handle. Berbick was always a tough son of a gun.
