time to end this once and for all
list the tyson myths that you heard before the fight such as
overrated- indeed he was so explosive most people forgot he was human
he was out of shape-false he was 217 same weight he was for spinks
long count-both guys received long counts
without rooney hes ****-you could def make an argument for this but also consider that he looked good against ruddock
    douglas myths
he beat a prime tyson- false no rooney=no tyson
douglas was a bum-false he was quite talented he proved that against tucker
bottom line douglas was just the better man that night tyson fans need to accept it
now list some of your own cause im too lazy to cover all of em also before you start hating i am a tyson fan

Tyson was still good without Rooney, but he wasn't putting combinations together like he used to anymore and wasn't moving his head as much.
He felt like he could just ran in there and end the fight with one punch

What I did like about how Tyson fought against Ruddock was him punching his way out of some clinches. Tyson could be real lazy when he was tied up, but he was throwing shots in the clinch. I loved the way he absolutely destroyed Razor's body. Tyson didn't move his head nearly enough though.

People have said Tyson was slipping pre-Douglas, but I'm not sure how much exactly I can base into one fight (Bruno 1). True, he wasn't moving his head enough in that fight either, and showed some sloppiness at times. But everyone has off-nights where they don't look as great, right?

I guess I'll say that Tyson did lose a bit with Rooney, as they had the right chemistry together. Some trainers are simply great trainers, and others are the right trainers for particular fighters. Rooney is the latter.

But it wasn't this huge gigantic decline as people have said.

Tucker stopped Douglas and many sports writers back then were saying Tucker without Don King would not be in the top ten. Douglas ( I think ) was knocked out by David Bay in Bay's pro debut! Also I think Mike White stopped Douglas. And His wins were over some of the worst opponents I've ever seen, fighters with record of 0-28-0, 0-19-0, 0-12-0, 0-26-0, 5-25-0, 3-21-1. Dougles may not been a bum, but you couldnt tell it by His record.........

I feel you on that. I've always had that issue with Tyson also. For somebody of his style and size, you would think he'd be a master in the clinch and inside.
He was so good at crossing no man's land and getting inside and kinda just rested once he got there.

I've made this comparison before. He's like a a point guard who's really good at getting to the basket, but if you pass him the ball while he's in the post, he doesn't know what to do with it.
