Tyson was clearly not the same after 88' , but that's his fault too. He didn't give any excuses after the Douglas loss and said that the better man won that night and thats all there is to it. We can speculate how the fight would have gone had Tyson been more focused and better conditioned but we can't know for sure. Douglas was really sharp that night too.

Not a Tyson fan, but that's one thing I like about him, no whining and no BS excuses after a loss

His post Mcbride words where he admits he's done and he cant even beat a tomato can anymore required some balls

¨I'm not going to disrespect the sport anymore by losing to this calibre of
    fighter¨

I just cant imagine Tyson blaming his socks, a pinky toe or the gambler referee after a loss

Exactly, i laughed my ass off when i heard mike say that.. McBrides jumping around because hes beaten a shot, old Tyson so mike basically says "Im done, i dont like boxing anymore, Kevin McBride is **** & if i cant beat a bum like him its time for me to go" :D

    You can't be serious.

Heavyweights, especially, blow up in weight between fights. There is a big difference between fighting weight and walk-around weight.

I love Mike, been a huge fan ever since he first exploded onto the scene, but he came up with a load of excuses after Tokyo. It was pretty pathetic really.
He also had a fair few excuses after Holyfield 1.

He seemed to accept the inevitable in his losses to Lewis and subsequent fights, which made him more honest.

Tyson's defense was already in the **** can at this point, but his speed and attack was still positively unbelievable and overwhelming. He still went to the body savagely and could get 'em off, still exceptional as a counterpuncher (underrated aspect of his game). That's truly what was lacking post-prison. His defense was a thing of the past after Spinks. He didnt need it to be World Champ.

His demeanor after Douglas was on some other **** too... He was on his half Hitler-half Jewish Gassed off himself mentality. The type of confidence you couldnt shake a stick at :nono ... It's exemplified in a couple instances that stand out: In the first fight, he taunts Ruddock to hit him -- Not an Ali or Leonard type of taunt. No. He literally puts his face in perfect position to take Razor's right hand and does it. Then fires off multiple shots back at him while the bell is ringing followed by a staredown back to the corner. In the second fight, Mills Lane scolds him for hitting low and orders him to keep the punches up... God dammit, the next ****ing punch is an Overhand Right that drops Ruddock to his knees. :rofl

I'd probably give up a toe to see what '91 Mike couldve done with Holyfield. I have my suspicions that Evander is in for a surprise when he starts putting the rough stuff to use.

no excuses? like tyson not even being interviewed after the fight? protesting the loss because of a "long count" .
maybe he didnt have any excuses when asked about it 20 years later, but after the fight for the first few months it was excuse city
