Well Ali was played by will smith and he bulked up for the part--if jamie can get some bulk maybe he could pull it off.
Jamie Foxx is pretty built. This film has the potential to be brilliant, it won't be decided on how much Foxx looks like Tyson, it'll be decided by how well they potray the story.
Jamie Foxx talked about wanting to do a Tyson biopic at least 2 or 3 years ago when he recieved critical acclaim for his portrayal of Ray Charles in the movie "Ray". Those who don't see the facial similarity will be surprised if and when this movie is produced. They look more alike than you may think. And with regard to the size/bulk issue, his physique will be convincing enough. It all has to do with who they surround him with. Sylvester Stallone was cast as a heavyweight in the Rocky movies. In reality, he's about 5'9" and around 180 lbs. Jamie Foxx is also 5'9" and was at one point (prior to losing over 30 lbs. for "Ray") closer to 190 lbs. He's 6 months younger than Iron Mike also so the part would be age appropriate. I think it makes sense and I look forward to seeing it.
There's already been a very good Tyson film (an HBO film starring Michael Jai White). If you haven't seen it, try to download it. Well worth watching. In the film, White looks and sound like tyson, eerly convincing.
Yeah but the thing is, Smith was already built quite large and 6'3" just like Ali. Not that matching height is a problem with Tyson, but he's wide as a ****ing house. I'm not sure if Foxx can mimic that, but obviously the people behind the movie think so ...... so maybe we're in for a surprise. I'm more looking forward to Night Train about Sonny Liston, starring Ving Rhames. He is perfectly suited to play Liston.
Jamie is like 45 years old. He's too old to play a young Tyson. Now, if the film was just about Tyson in his crazy years later in his career, he might be able to pull it off.
How the **** can any actor with no boxing experience imitate Tysons style and speed without falling on their arse?!
Seen it many times, not wowed by Michael Jai White (should stick to playing "Spawn"), nor the film. As a film buff, it had a VERY amateurish look and feel to it.
In terms of look wise, Michael Jai White, fit Tyson pretty good. The film a little on the b movie side, but then again it was an HBO original film that premiered on their network. Movie wasn't all that bad, but it certainly wasn't all that great as a Raging Bull (im not sure which other boxing movie is). Neither was the Ali movie made by Will Smith... I thought that movie sucked.
