:nono Douglas always had a shedload of natural talent and he was the best boxer Tyson faced pre-prison. Tyson may not have been 100% but that's overhyped, he wasn't necesarily worse than the version who stopped Bruno either, btw Douglad bossed McCall with much more ease than Bruno managed

Technically that was a masterclass on how to neutralise Tyson and:

    90 Douglas > 93 Bowe

It was 1 of the best HW wins of the 20th century imo, it's underrated now because Douglas didn't put his heart into his training or fights before or after that win, if he did he could be an ATG the talent was there

Douglas wasn't close to the best boxer tyson faced pre-prison. It's the biggest upset in history for a reason.

Yes its an upset because Buster got into the shape of his life Rocky style. He always had the potential though, he toyed with McCall and Berbick, and was easily beating Tucker until he got tired then got caught. Douglas in shape is 1 of the best HWs ever and the most underrated because everyone wants to excuse a Tyson loss and because Douglas didn't really attempt to defend the strap

He was absolutely the best HW by a margin Tyson fought pre-pison, if you look how good he actually looks in the fight it's apparent. He looks the fastest, best combinations, technically the best, best gameplan, best defensively maybe the strongest, best counter puncher, has the uppercut to deal with Mike inside. I'm not saying Tyson couldn't beat him at his best, but I certainly think he's better than old Holmes, Spinks, Tucker, Thomas

anut mate, i said weight draining as in dehydration, not weight training.

Tyson used Crash Dieting, which involved dehydrating in saunas & a diet of a watery soup & a light salad per day, to drop from 250lbs to 220lbs in just a couple of weeks. His training consisted of muscle relaxation exercises, light jogging & a sparse amount of sparring in which we got his ass kicked by Berbick, McCall & Page.

I know that, but it's cool you asked Page about it personally. :good

    Very tough fight methinks.

In 1996, Tyson was better prepared than Tokyo Tyson, but he wasnt THAT much better prepared. Tommy Brooks said Tyson only trained 2 weeks for the Holyfield fight

1996 Tyson had ring rust plus didnt have the heart anymore.

Tokyo Tyson showed much more heart and took a bigger pounding. I mean DOuglas was hitting Tyson with 4s+5s until Round 11

    Its a tough question IMO

Holyfield would still win, but Tyson would make it much more competitive. Because although he wasnt conditioned, he still had the bottle to fight (something he lost in prison)

I finally bought that DVD form that guy. Bill Cayton states he believes Tyson starved himself to make weight.

Ill try and post it on here (if i knew how to)

I think this is the most i've ever disagreed with you. Almost every word.

If douglas could in anyway be perceived as great it would be better for mike because then he never got iced by some bum.

I think it would be more competitive than people think.

I think Holyfield always knocks Tyson out... unless Tyson gets DQd

How do you think it would end? Who will win and what scoring will be at the time of stoppage?

I dont know, but I do know that Holyfield fought in spurts and was looking like he was going to pass out in the corner between the 10th and 11th. I imagine Tyson would have had more chances and would have taken a lot less pounding, because the Holyfield of 96-97 wasnt throwing what Douglas was throwing in that fight in 90.

Exactly what i stated earlier, Holyfield was catchign Tyson with 1-2s now and then. But Douglas was hitting Tyson withs 4 5 punches at a time.

Plus i feel Douglas hit harder than Holyfield. A Tokyo Tyson would have even less respect of holyfields power. Even in 97, it was more due to exhaustion than Holyfields punches which finished Tyson.

Holyfields best shots couldnt even get Tyson down at the end
