He's a better puncher than his record suggests & is the only one to have ever stopped Huck. He may lack power but he's got good accuracy, timing & technique. When he hit Tyson flush he couldn't budge him, when he caught him falling backwards he knocked him down.

Poor performance by Fury, but not as bad as Chisora's last night.

I agree, it wasn't that Fury's chin was poor he just wasn't set for the punch. He was rushing in, over eager, hands down and off balance. He never saw it coming (that's the real problem, not his chin) and it put him on his arse.

In some ways it's similar to the argument that Lewis was chinny because of what happened against Rahman. However when you see the punches he took against Briggs and Vitali there is no way you could call him chinny. It's all down to the positioning and the balance. The way the muscles are set to absorb the force.

I thought he did a good job against probably the best fighter he's fought who still has ambition himself. I thought he'd blown it acting like a knobhead and then taking that shot flush. People are saying Cunningham can't punch but that was a peach though a little bit high. It was early in the round and Fury did well to get over it showing a real fighters heart, a good chin and plenty of bottle. He was getting beat to the punch due to Cunninghams speed but gritted his teeth, used his strength and weight and did what he had to. He showed good stamina too. You could see him putting on the pressure during the first half of the rounds and then kicking in the second half and really punishing Steve.
Overall he's hopefully learnt a few lessons. He's still a bit raw and needs to tighten up his defence and not get caught with shots like that. It was a great learning fight, a lot more valuable than some of the knockovers he's fought. It was a great heavyweight scrap and I'm sure the Yanks will want to see more of him. How far can he go? We'll have to wait and see but he's going in the right direction and I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes for him.

Last night's events worked out the best for Fury. Americans lap that excitement up.

I saw the fight/performance/result exactly the same way you describe it. :good

I'm not sure why people expected a lot more from Fury or a lot less from Cunningham. They both fought true to form. And it was an enjoyable contest.

Fury IMO is the best heavyweight in the UK and has by far the best chance of world honours
