It's sad this is literally a purse tactic in boxing. Claim to be retired or retiring to drive your price up. Even Tank Davis just tried this recently.
Why does he have to be afraid to retire? He has accomplished a lot over his career and feels he doesn't have much else to conquer and/or don't have it in his body to do so. The AJ fight was the fight he was shooting after before the Wilder trilogy. AJ didn't want it then when he had everything. Why does Fury have to be belittled because he doesn't chase him while AJ has nothing. People get a wifi connection and just say anything.
By ATG, I really hope you mean A Tall Gypsy. LOL I cannot recall someone regarded as an ATG with one of their best wins being a Wilder level opponent. If he never fought Wilder, would you think as highly of him?
It was a blast following his career despite all his BS.. he ended the K2 era & gave us 2 great HW rivalries.. an all-time great trilogy with Wilder & 2 high quality fights with ATG Usyk.. put all the BS aside and he's left us with some great memories. I'm not standing for anybody trying to argue he's ducking joshua as well , i mean joshua has looked like dog s*** lately, he just got annihilated by Dubois. No one will give him credit for it so I have no qualms that he's retired and not bothered with the fight. Enjoy your retirement. Fk Hearn.
Maybe the guy has all the money he will ever need and just is not motivated to do it anymore??? It's at least plausible. I doubt he's retiring out of fear. You don't get to a top level in boxing without a lot of self belief. It's 50-50 he will change his mind and come back anyway.
He's announced retirement and always came crawling back time and time again. Expect him to make a "comeback" in a few months.
And the sky wept, the good spirit of boxing retired, his nobility and smile will forever remain etched in our memories...
He now doesn’t have to take any drug tests for the next few months. That’s probably the height of it.
Umm ok. Many fighters do that because of a need for the sport to be in their life due to money problems, great opportunity, or maybe just because they've participated in this sport their entire life and don't know how to move on, even if their body and father time tells them they need to. He announced his retirement. Congrats to him. If he comes back, we'll make our comments on that then.
his legacy is a trilogy with a bum ass fighter. wlad was a horrible match and would be an embarrassing fight in any other atg's resume.
