Saying Fury, last time out, was at his all-time best since he fought Wlad nine years earlier simply isn't true and doesn't pass the eye test.

Fury was at his all-time heaviest 281 pounds in his last outing, and looked every bit of it. He looked to be in the worst condition in his career.

Nearly 40 pounds heavier than he was against Wlad.

He had zero tone to his body in the ring. None at all.

It's like saying Ali was in the best shape since the Cleveland Williams fight for his defense against Jimmy Young.

You can say it, but that doesn't make it true.

    The eyes don't lie.

If he can't get in reasonable shape for the most important fight of his career, which his last fight was, he should call it.

His purses for the last two fights were close to $200 million. He isn't getting that any time soon.

Lots of guys are in line.

Joshua and Fury spent the better part of the last four years monopolizing Usyk's time. I didn't think either deserved immediate rematches based on their first fights with him.

Let some others move up and get their shots. The last era was fun, but time to move on.

A decade long run at or near the top is more than 99 percent of most heavyweights ever see.

Knows he'd get sparked out by Joshua. Can't really blame him for avoiding that inevitability.

He did not win the 2nd fight. He lost both fights clearly.

The whole Povetkin vs Ortiz debate was comical. Povetkin much better amateur and pro, much better resume, mucj better chin, just much better in general and he would've violently knocked Ortiz out

    "Dick Turpin wore a mask"

is that Fury still salty about the decisions? (Highway Robbery???)

C'mon Fury, you are better than that, especially in retirement, be graceful for once!

If it was that easy money, how dumb would he have to be to not take it?

On the flip side... If he thinks there's a reasonable chance he'd lose and it'd change his reputation forever?
It's a huge monetary value to place on your record/reputation, especially if you think there's a good chance you win.

It's surprising, to say the least... Before AJ lost to Dubois I thought Fury would do this and run - after that fight, I thought we might well see this.

    Oh well.

Holy **** just saw this thread. Anyway, I can't imagine why he would be afraid to fight AJ. Fury looked damn good in his last outing; AJ looked terrible. I'd heavily favor Fury in a fight with AJ.

Unless Fury is thinking that yeah, he can win, but he has no desire to get cracked by a puncher like AJ.

He already got packed up by Dubois and has no real position in the division besides being the cash cow now. Fury made the right decision, preserving his health, he's 36 and has generational wealth several times over. The brain damage will only get worse regardless of the outcome of the fight

Beat me to it. Good riddance. Not likely. Be saying that again. And again. And. You know what I mean.
