To me this vid proves anything great Fury does in the ring is based on instinct, is T.Fury`s boxing schooling overrated? This content is protected
To get to where Fury is right now taking years of practice. Over 15 to be precise. Nobody can touch him, everyone else is still stuck on the basics (Whyte, AJ)
There is no correct or incorrect. There is only what works and doesn't work. This changes with your opponent. Why Fury switched southpaw and simply used his jab to completely shut Chisora down That's a pro. Chisora said it best, at heavyweight you can't always box there will be a time where you have to fight. Usyk won't be able to handle a young superheavyweight in this scenario. Just the boxing part will be hard for Usyk because he's having to move much further to get in and out of range against bigger men.
Usyk is a better combo puncher than Fury and has better acuracy, Fury`s punching v Chisora wasn`t very good, the crowd was booing in the 6th round because of the lack of action until Fury wore Chisora down, he punched much harder v Wilder in that rematch.
I'm going to thumb this because the theme is on the right track. Peter Fury wasn't the key factor behind Tyson's success, as many wanted to believe. Peter Fury was exposed as soon as Tyson left. He was the classic case of a family coach getting lucky, something you sometimes see in other individual sports like tennis where a parent is a mediocre or crap coach but the offspring overcomes it with talent. Kronk man isn't responsible for ''Fury beast mode'' either. Tyson Fury has a rare set of attributes and he's had a lot of different coaches over the years. Some have arguably held him back, like Peter Fury, who was clearly too defensive (and you can see that with Hughie's style, which Peter designed). Peter wasn't a good coach in the psychological aspect because Fury went AWOL under that approach. Let's face it, if anyone on this forum got hold of Fury in his mid 20s and just got him to the gym, organised some sparring, got someone to do the pads, provided moral support, and provided a very basic gameplan for fights, Fury would have still done very, very well, maybe no differently. If you don't believe that, go listen to Peter Fury's corner work in the Klitschko fight. I guarantee everyone could have said ''Put your right glove up'' when Tyson was worried about Wlad's LH.
Peter is good when it comes to the defensive aspect and footwork (his fighers also seem to hav good cardio), but he's bad at teaching proper puncing technique. Tyson's hooks were always slappy uder him and his jab wasn't always sharp in situations where you actually want it t be shart, it was oten a bit sloppy. Hughie Fury can't throw an overhand right or even a cross with good form to save his life and when he goes on te offence his whole punching technique goes to hell. It would be interesting to see what Peter could do with a rather raw guy who's a really big puncher, I think he could actually help that kind of fighter a lot. Proper punching technique has always been the worst technical aspect of Tyson's game, so him working on that at Kronk actually made sense.
To say Peter Fury doesn't know much about boxing is ridiculous. He is the one who trained Tyson to a win over Wlad which ever way you want to spin it.
