I havnt heard about any contract points yet but Im presuming he is guna get it. surely this is a PPV smash in the States. Fury is the lineal champion, its champion vs champion. Unbeaten champions at that. This fight must surely do over 100 million Dollars in the States. Im sure Fury is about as heard of or as popular as Joshua is in the states so what ever Joshua vs Wilder would of made this fight would make similar. These are early days and i may be getting a bit carried away, if you think im wrong do you think im overstimating or understimating what this fight would do compared to the AJ fight? Think it could be bigger? I just want to add that "Lineal champ" means nothing to me. If Canelo can be called Lineal champ at 160 without fighting a Middleweight fighter at 160 then that just shows its completely useless and pointless. But many others go on about it like it means everything so it needs to be regarded as legitimate.
IF this fight gets made it will be in the uk, they will split a 10 million purse and Frank will try to put it on at the Etihad but half the stadium will be closed off and the Half thats open will have plenty of empty seats Oh and there will be a load of crowd trouble.
Nobody cares at all about Fury or even wilder in the states, UK fight especially if they even think about a very cheap ppv 5mil guarantee for both with upside that'll mostly be from UK fans
I mean, as an American, I think that this fight, if properly promoted, has the potential to do at least as well as Wilder AJ in America. Probably more potential. Fury can promote the fight better than AJ, and casuals will see Fury as at least as legitimate a champ as AJ. Hate to say it, but the race angle may drive up number too. All that said, I think there is a great chance that either AJ Wilder or Fury Wilder would bomb on PPV. None of them have ever been PPV in US before. And a HW fight hasn't been PPV in US in over 15 years, which required previously established PPV draws. I'm just not sure the market is there anymore in the US. Its a bold move. If they pull it off, and it does real good numbers, they've completely flipped the script, and then the winner can ask for parity in a unification with AJ AND to have the fight in America (which probably both Wilder and Fury would want, as AJ would have a huge home field advantage even against a fellow countryman in GB). But if it pulls a Ward Kovalev, the winner won't be much better off in negotiation with AJ than they were before.
Lets look at the last 10 years of big PPV's in USA. Mayweather, Pacquiao, Alvarez and Cotto reign supreme. They could all hold up a PPV on their own. But they all started small and spend years building up the PPV audience. The exception of Alvarez, whose first headlining act was vs Mayweather. Let's look at the other numbers: Calzaghe vs RJJ - 225k Hopkins vs RJJ II - 150k Bradley vs Marquez - 375k Golovkin vs Lemieux - 150k Golovkin vs Jacobs - 175k Morales vs Maidana - 50k Hopkins vs Dawson - 40k Crawford vs Postol - 100k Ward vs Kovalev I and II - 165k and 130k So you can see that unless fighters have a guaranteed base, it's nearly impossible to achieve big numbers. Yes, good fights do sell but even then has never boxing seen anyone deliver over 500k on two guys making their PPV debuts. So can definitely not be expecting Mayweather/Pacquiao type of numbers here. 100mil in PPV is absolutely ridiculous. Majority of the biggest PPV's have involved a fighter with a loss. The 0 only goes so far. Again, 100 mil is just a dream. And Fury being as popular as Joshua in the states is just something you think. There is no proof or guarantee of it. Neither has had much US exposure. The PPV will be lucky to break 500k. And 500k would be an enormous success. Especially considering that both are making their PPV debuts.
50 mil ??? In the US or UK there is no way it makes anywhere near that.If lucky 10 mil $ each and thats it. Joshua and Wlad made like 20mil $ each and these 2 jokers will make 50 mil EACH ? This is not AJ vs Wilder and even if it was that ''offer'' was bluff and fake. Also Wilder wont go to the UK and so on.Fury was retired for 3 years and fighting midgets and bums now and Wilder is currently making 1 mil $ per fight, give me a break with this please.Fury was never a draw and i actually like him but hes not AJ.
500K is really really good numbers. From the last interview i heard with Fury which i think was taken yesterday he said he was heading over the water to spank another yank so it is looking like hes going to them. Not sure how much interest he is guna bring UK side, the time of the fight being the big downer. Will it even be PPV?
If this is 50 million USD for Fury to fight in the USA then no wonder he has “almost signed”. I would be biting Finkels hand off for that. Even though December is a bit soon...
Fury as popular as AJ in the states? I would say given the fact Steven Espinosa has said showtime wanted AJ v Povetkin and will still bid for AJ’s fight after Povetkin tells me AJ is the man US networks want not Fury.
